Việt NamViệt Nam05/04/2025

Taking advantage of favorable weather, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh's family in Phu An 1 village, Phu Nhuan commune, Bao Thang district focused on harvesting the spring tea crop (photo above). Without needing to mobilize many workers, the entire tea harvesting process has been mechanized by his family. On average, a day of harvesting by machine can reach 500 kg - 600 kg of fresh tea buds, equivalent to about 15 manual workers. "Pick by hand and by machine, harvesting by machine is more productive, the tea fields are beautifully shaped, increasing productivity, although only once a month, but the productivity is much higher," said Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh.

This year, due to the cold and prolonged weather, the productivity of spring tea has been somewhat affected. However, the quality of fresh tea buds is still guaranteed, the purchase price is stable at 6,000 - 7,000 VND/kg, so farmers are quite assured. "This year's spring tea crop has little rain, a lot of sunshine, and drought, so it is not as good as every year, the tea buds are not as thick, but the factory still buys spring tea regularly," said Ms. Lu Thi Ty, Nhuan 1 village, Phu Nhuan commune, Bao Thang district.

In 2024, Phu Nhuan will supply processing factories with nearly 1,600 tons of fresh tea buds, with revenue of more than 10 billion VND.

Currently, the whole Phu Nhuan commune has nearly 180 hectares of tea, mainly commercial tea. In 2024, Phu Nhuan will supply processing factories with nearly 1,600 tons of fresh tea buds, with a revenue of more than 10 billion VND. Along with applying science and technology, innovating farming methods, the locality is also focusing on building organic tea areas and linking and finding product outlets for people. "The district also helps and forms cooperatives, helps households take care of tea in an organic direction, and has also developed plans and projects, with the goal of further improving the quality of tea to ensure the goal of improving quality and value," said Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Nhuan commune, Bao Thang district.

Bao Thang district has nearly 510 hectares of tea, with an average yield of more than 88 quintals/hectare, and this year's output is estimated at nearly 4,500 tons. Tea continues to affirm itself as one of the key crops, helping farmers increase their income, contributing to promoting local economic and social development.
