Parents pay nearly 120 million VND but kindergartens continue to close

(Dan Tri) - Having paid nearly 120 million VND for nearly 10 months of study, for more than half a month now, the school has continuously closed its doors and not welcomed students for many reasons.

Responding to Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Luong Thi Huong, parent of a student in Elephant class - Rosemont Vietnam American International Kindergarten, located at Hapulico building, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi, said that she paid the full package for 9.5 months of study (from August 15, 2024 to May 30, 2025) with the amount of 118 million VND.

However, after only 7 months of studying, the school continuously closed for various reasons, causing chaos for her family in arranging childcare.

According to Ms. Huong, from February 17, the school announced that students would be off to "spray disinfectant to prevent the epidemic". On February 18-19, the school continued to let students stay home with the reason of "power outage". On February 26, the school said that students would return to school as usual from March 3, but in reality, the school was closed and the electricity was turned off.

According to Ms. Huong, the school has repeatedly sent information to parents asking for sympathy and promising to welcome students back to school, but the schedule to pick up children is always delayed for many different reasons.

Like Ms. Huong, many other parents at the school were very upset. There were even families who paid more than 100 million VND for their children but before even a day of school, they were "stuck" with a postponement of pick-up.

According to information obtained by reporters, currently more than 50 parents have paid tuition to the school with an amount of nearly 4 billion VND.

Parents pay tuition in packages of 3-12 months, most of which pay in packages of 10 months to 1 year, amounting to hundreds of millions of dong.

"Many parents are heartbroken and want to get their money back to consider other options, but they haven't been able to. Because we can't arrange long-term childcare, my family had to transfer our child to a public school and determined to lose the tuition for the next 3 months if the school continues to drag its feet and refuses to resolve the issue," Ms. Huong shared.

It is known that the parents reported the incident to the Department of Education and Training and local police for coordination in resolving the matter.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter this morning (March 5), Ms. Vu Tuyet Lan, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Xuan district, said that this is a private school called "Rosemont Vietnam American International School".

Regarding the incident reported by parents, the District Department of Education and Training has learned of it and is working with the school, requesting that it be handled properly in accordance with the commitment to the parents.

"In case any family has a need, the District Department of Education and Training will introduce the children to study at other educational institutions in the district, to ensure maximum benefits for the children," said Ms. Lan.
