On November 19, Ms. Dang Thi Viet Ha, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Cam Le District (Da Nang City), said that the unit had just received a report from Ngo Quyen Primary School (Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District) about parents of the school being scammed out of money when registering their children to participate in a beautiful handwriting contest.
Specifically, when seeing information on social networks about a beautiful handwriting contest with the content "Join Eras and the Vietnamese Beautiful Handwriting Club to honor the art of beautiful handwriting through the 2024 Vietnam Beautiful Handwriting Contest with the theme Childhood for Children", a parent registered for her child to participate.
During the registration process, this parent repeatedly transferred money (a total of 55 million VND) to the contest’s “instructor.” However, after a while, the child still could not compete in the calligraphy competition and the parent could not contact the contest staff.
The Department of Education and Training of Cam Le District has requested school principals in the area to organize propaganda and widely inform parents and students to raise awareness of online fraud. At the same time, special attention should be paid to forms of fraud through online contests, requests for money transfers, providing personal information or links to websites of unknown origin.
Leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Cam Le District also noted that schools need to instruct parents and students to carefully check the authenticity of the programs; only participate in competitions organized by reputable agencies and organizations.
