Awarding the title of People's Teacher 2024 to the principal of the University of Transport
At the end of June, President To Lam signed a decision to confer the title of People's Teacher in 2024 on 21 individuals who have made great contributions to the education and training of the nation. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long, Principal of the University of Transport, was honored to be one of them.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Long was born in 1963, from Thai Binh. Regarding his education, in August 1988, Mr. Long graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, specializing in Bridge and Tunnel Construction, University of Transport. In September 2001, Mr. Long successfully defended his doctoral thesis and was awarded a doctoral degree from the University of Transport.
Professor Long was appointed as Associate Professor in 2006, specializing in Bridge and Tunnel Construction, Transport Department. From 2011 to present, he has been a member of the Faculty Council of the University of Transport; member of the Faculty Council of Transport Department.

Regarding his working process, from February 1989 to May 2005, Mr. Long was a lecturer at the Bridge and Tunnel Department, Faculty of Construction, University of Transport.
After that, Mr. Long successively held the positions of Deputy Head of Department, Head of Department of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Training; Deputy Head of Bridge and Tunnel Department, Faculty of Construction, University of Transport.
From July to August 2010, Mr. Long was Vice Principal; Head of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Training Department; Deputy Head of Bridge and Tunnel Department, Faculty of Construction, University of Transport.
From September 2010 to February 2013, Mr. Long was Vice Principal, Deputy Head of Bridge and Tunnel Department, Faculty of Construction, University of Transport.
From April 2015 to October 2016, Mr. Long was Vice Principal of the University of Transport.
From November 2016 to August 2017, Mr. Long held the positions of Principal, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the branch of the University of Transport in Ho Chi Minh City, Head of the Bridge and Tunnel Department, Faculty of Construction - University of Transport.
From November 2019 to present, Mr. Long is the Principal, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Senior Lecturer of Bridge and Tunnel Department, Faculty of Construction - University of Transport.
The main research directions in the field of Transport of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Long include: application of modern technology, modern materials: external prestressing, split fiber reinforced concrete, super-performance concrete in repairing and strengthening bridge structures; inspection and assessment of bridge health status; analysis and design of concrete bridges.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long is the editor of 3 textbooks on bridge design; 57 scientific articles, including 44 domestic journal articles and 13 international conference and journal articles. He is fluent in English and French.
Regarding training and scientific research results, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long has guided 12 doctoral students to successfully defend their doctoral theses. Mr. Long completed 7 scientific research topics, including 5 ministerial-level topics, 1 Hanoi-level topic and 1 ministerial-level program.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Long has received the Medal for Education, Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training, Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, and Emulation Fighter at the Ministry level. In 2014, he was awarded the title of Excellent Teacher and consecutively received Certificates of Merit from the Hanoi Party Committee and the Prime Minister.
In particular, in recent years, with his great contributions to the country's education and training, Professor Long has received many good news. In 2022, Professor Long was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal. In 2023, he was a Ministerial Emulation Fighter. Also in 2023, in the Transport sector, there was only one candidate who met the criteria for recognition of the title of Professor, and that was Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Long.
And in June this year, President To Lam signed a decision to confer the title of People's Teacher on Professor Nguyen Ngoc Long in 2024.
