Developing 5-star OCOP products

Quang Ninh has a large scale of agricultural production with many potentials and existing strengths. The province's agricultural products are diverse, rich and unique. The spirit of constantly striving to innovate and improve products to increase competitiveness when participating in the OCOP Program has also been thoroughly implemented by localities and establishments. These are conditions showing that the room for developing 5-star OCOP products in Quang Ninh is still very large.

The 2024 Northeast Region OCOP Fair - Quang Ninh takes place during the September 2 holiday.

The One Commune, One Product Program of Quang Ninh province sets a target of developing 8-10 5-star OCOP products by 2025. To complete this task, many synchronous coordination solutions have been regularly and continuously deployed by units and localities in recent years. Especially the work of reviewing, urging, and supporting typical products with strengths and conditions to submit dossiers to the Central Government for evaluation and recognition.

Up to now, Quang Ninh has had 4 products ranked 5 stars OCOP. These are Akoya pearls, Tahiti pearls, Southsea pearls of Ha Long Pearl Joint Stock Company, recognized since 2021; Quy Hoa golden flower tea of ​​Quy Hoa Trading Service and Import-Export Company Limited (Hai Ha district), recognized since 2022. Besides, there are also a number of products that are identified and highly appreciated for their potential to reach 5 stars, such as: Ba Che golden flower tea, oyster floss, Yen Tu plum wine, Quang Hanh natural mineral water with added gas, health protection food Dong Bac 7-leaf Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea...

This is concretized by the company's orientation over the years to develop 5-star OCOP products, meeting export standards to the international market. Therefore, the company constantly improves factory conditions, upgrades machinery, and modern, safe production lines. Natural mineral water with added gas is a unique product, carefully invested in from packaging, labeling to quality, ensuring high standards of food safety. Currently, the steps of the application procedures have been completed to submit to the Central Council for consideration and selection for recognition according to regulations.

Even units with products that have achieved 5-star OCOP certification are closely oriented by the province to continuously research, invest, and maintain quality to be worthy of the title. For example, in recent years, Ha Long Pearl Joint Stock Company has continued to perfect the closed implantation process from breeding, culturing to pearl processing. Notably, the unit has focused on maintaining the semi-intensive pearl farming area that has been granted ISO 14001-2015 certification for environmental management systems. In addition, the company's design and processing department also constantly updates new designs, proactively developing more pearl products to meet the aesthetic tastes and diverse preferences of many customer groups...

In recent years, in general, products participating in the OCOP Program have benefited from many support mechanisms and policies from the province and locality to continuously innovate, upgrade and upgrade. Typically: Guiding and supporting investors to upgrade equipment, expand production activities, apply food safety quality management processes; orienting product packaging and label design associated with building product stories. Along with that, training and coaching are enhanced to equip skills and capacities in business administration, quality management, food safety, intellectual property, raw material area code management, applying digital transformation associated with traceability requirements...

Continuously developing potential products, along with maintaining the quality of products that have achieved 5-star OCOP, this approach of the province has helped agricultural brands "made in Quang Ninh" clearly affirm their sustainable value in the hearts of modern consumers.

By the end of June 2024, the whole Quang Ninh province had 393 OCOP products with 3-5 stars. Of which, 296 products had 3 stars; 93 products had 4 stars and 4 products had 5 stars. The whole province had 218 production entities with products with 3-5 stars. Adapting to the 4.0 industry era, strong digital transformation, currently 100% of OCOP products with 3 stars or more have been put on e-commerce platforms such as Voso, Postmart, Shopee, Lazada... helping to expand the consumption market better to other provinces.

Quang Ninh OCOP products have gradually affirmed their position and brand in the hearts of consumers. Thereby contributing to the successful implementation of the campaigns "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" and "Quang Ninh people prioritize using goods and services produced and traded in Quang Ninh province".
