The program is organized to contribute to honoring the value of Ao Dai in life, culture and society, at the same time arousing love, pride and responsibility to preserve and promote the value of Ao Dai heritage and promote the culture, country and people of Vietnam in general and Vietnamese women in particular to become closer to many domestic and international friends.
Attending the program were Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President; Ms. Ha Thi Nga, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union; leaders, former leaders of the Party and State, and nearly 700 delegates and guests.

In her opening speech, Party Central Committee member and President of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga said: In 2019, the Vietnam Women's Union initiated and coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize events with the theme "Ao Dai - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage". Since then, even during the complicated developments of Covid-19, Ao Dai Week has been held regularly every year in the first week of March.
"It can be seen that, after many efforts from all levels, sectors, and localities, and the positive response of women and men, both domestically and in the overseas Vietnamese community, not only on major national holidays and important events of the country, locality, and family, but now the ao dai has become an increasingly popular costume used by women and men, from the elderly to the young, and is loved by many international friends," affirmed Ms. Ha Thi Nga.

President Ha Thi Nga also emphasized: "Through these practical activities, the Vietnam Women's Union wishes to contribute to inspiring and spreading meaningful, positive messages about love, national pride, about the country, people and Vietnamese ao dai to the general public. At the same time, contributing to the values of ao dai being soon recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage and further as a world cultural heritage."
During the performance night, delegates also enjoyed the program "Fragrance and color of Vietnamese Ao Dai" with outstanding Ao Dai collections by designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam and over 50 domestic designers according to 3 outstanding themes: Pride of Vietnamese Ao Dai; Soul of Vietnamese Ao Dai and Quintessence of Vietnamese Ao Dai.
The Ao Dai collections presented at the show were inspired by the famous heritages, the majestic natural landscapes of Vietnam, the national flags of countries and the special diplomatic marks between Vietnam and countries around the world. In particular, the show also had the participation of the wives of Ambassadors of the countries: America, Armenia, Morocco, Czech Republic and Indonesia on stage, performing Ao Dai designs - products of the cultural exchange between Vietnam and the participating countries.

"Ao Dai Week" in 2024 takes place from March 1 to March 8, 2024 nationwide. Accordingly, launching the Women's Union of provinces/cities, affiliated units, members, women, female civil servants, public employees in localities, agencies, units, and workplaces to respond to the event with creative, practical, and specific activities; wearing Ao Dai on working days suitable to the conditions and characteristics of the profession from March 1 to March 8, 2024, focusing on March 8, 2024.
