Promoting heritage values associated with tourism development to bring tourists “green tourism” products has been and is being paid attention to and effectively implemented by many localities across the country. Not outside the development trend, up to now, many cultural heritages of Thanh Hoa province have become attractive tourist destinations, bringing “green” experiences associated with historical and cultural values.
Lam Kinh Historical Site - "Green destination" attracts tourists.
Located in the vast space of nearly 200 hectares of forest, Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site (Tho Xuan) is now not only a destination for tourists to go back to the past - the most prosperous period in the history of feudal dynasties, but also a destination that immerses visitors in the beautiful natural scenery. With its significance and importance in socio-economic development, Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site has been restored, preserved, exploited and promoted to become a key cultural tourist destination of the province. From there, it gives the relic site a majestic, ancient appearance, with a green, clean, beautiful and friendly natural landscape. This is also an important factor that helps Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site increasingly attract a large number of domestic and international tourists.
According to the report of Lam Kinh Relic Management Board, in the first 6 months of 2024, the relic site welcomed about 180,000 visitors, including 1,150 international visitors. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Toan, Head of Lam Kinh Relic Management Board, said: “According to the development orientation of Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site to become an attractive cultural, historical, spiritual destination and a key tourist destination of the province, the destination has been planned to organize tourism space in accordance with the Convention for the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage, legal regulations stipulated in the Law on Cultural Heritage, the Law on Tourism and related laws. Also in recent years, the work of protecting and restoring special-use forests, ensuring environmental sanitation, taking care of trees in mausoleums, internal roads, etc. has been focused on by the management board, bringing visitors an attractive cultural tourist destination. Along with that, the management board creates favorable conditions for the service area to promote OCOP products and local specialties for tourists to experience; at the same time, step up propaganda so that tourists can join hands to protect the green - clean - beautiful environment of the relic.
At the World Cultural Heritage of the Ho Dynasty Citadel (Vinh Loc), now it is not only a simple activity of visiting the ancient citadel but also many attractive "green spaces" and "green experiences". These include: the agricultural cultural space of the Tay Do region; the outdoor exhibition space for artifacts; the exhibition space for stone construction as a check-in point at the South gate; the display of cannon models and the reforms of the Ho Dynasty; heritage education programs for students;... Along with that, many tours connecting the heritage with the surrounding relics have been introduced and served to visitors such as: Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage - Binh Khuong Temple - Mr. Pham Ngoc Tung's ancient house - South Gate - the exhibition area for stone construction; exhibition room - Binh Khuong Temple - Linh Giang Pagoda - Giang Pagoda - Nam Giao Altar...
Director of the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Conservation Center Nguyen Ba Linh said: “For each heritage tourism destination to truly be a “green destination”, it must first be “green” in every experience. Accordingly, the experiential activities at the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage are not only attractive but also minimize adverse impacts such as noise and dust on the heritage site... In particular, implementing tours connecting to neighboring areas or developing cultural spaces for visitors to visit and experience will be specific actions to fulfill the commitment to UNESCO, while helping the image of the relic become more friendly to visitors”.
It can be said that promoting heritage values associated with "green" growth tourism is becoming more and more popular thanks to its importance in protecting human resource values in the integration period. With more than 1,500 relics, scenic spots and hundreds of unique traditional festivals, Thanh Hoa has had many favorable conditions to promote the development of "green tourism", contributing to the diversity and richness of cultural tourism products. Thereby, contributing to raising public awareness, creating resources for sustainable socio-economic development of the locality. This is also an important goal and task in the Cultural Development Strategy to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 1909/QD-TTg, dated November 12, 2021.
