Unexploded ammunition bunker discovered in An My village

According to NPA/RENEW, the project’s clearance teams have discovered a bunker containing unexploded ammunition left over from the war in An My village, Gio My commune, Gio Linh district. All explosives have been safely disposed of.

Accordingly, on January 10, 2024, while performing a clearance mission in a contaminated area in An My village, members of the clearance teams of NPA/RENEW discovered the above ammunition bunker at a depth of about 50 cm. In the bunker, there were a total of 80 explosives, including grenades, mortars and artillery.

The clearance team members coordinated with the NPA/RENEW mobile bomb disposal team to safely destroy all explosives containing high explosives on site; the movable explosives were brought to the centralized demolition site for safe disposal.

It is known that since November 2023, NPA/RENEW has deployed 4 teams to clear an area contaminated with bombs, mines and explosives with an area of ​​480,000 m2 in An My village. According to the plan, the teams will complete the task in January 2024.
