On the morning of April 6, within the framework of the 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival, at the square of Binh Thuy district (Can Tho city), the event of pouring a "super big" pancake with Nha Trang lobster filling took place.
The pancake has a diameter of 3m, a circumference of 9m, with traditional fillings including duck meat, carrots, green beans and vegetables. Especially, the pancake is "covered" with 100 Nha Trang lobsters.
To make this pancake, 15 chefs from Can Tho, Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Ho Chi Minh City were needed.
According to artisan Le Thi Hong Dung (who participated in pouring the pancake), this is the second time a "super giant" pancake has been poured at the Southern Traditional Cake Festival, but this year's pancake is larger than last year's giant pancake, and especially has 100 more lobsters brought from Nha Trang.
After pouring, the pancake was divided into small portions and given away for free to visitors to the festival.
Also at the event, the organizers cut pieces of a giant banh chung measuring 1.9x1.9m, 0.8m thick and weighing 1.6 tons to give away for free to visitors. The banh chung was made over three days, with a cooking time of about 20 hours.
