Phan Thiet: 500 doses of free rabies vaccine given to dogs and cats

BTO-Phan Thiet City Agricultural Technical and Service Center (Center) has just deployed support for free rabies vaccination for dogs and cats in wards and communes in the area with a quantity of 500 doses.

Accordingly, from September 18 to 26, the Center will vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies for households in difficult circumstances who cannot afford to vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies in 11 wards including Duc Long, Lac Dao, Phu Hai, Phu Trinh, Phu Thuy, Thanh Hai, Binh Hung, Hung Long, Phu Tai, Mui Ne, Duc Thang. Thereby, to limit the spread of rabies in animals and from animals to humans, contributing to rabies control.

It is known that the source of rabies vaccine is supported by the Center for Mobilization of AMA PROVET Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company, with a total cost of 15 million VND (30,000 VND/dose). This is the result of the implementation and construction of the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" model in 2023 of the Center on "Mobilizing support for rabies vaccines in dogs and cats", the implementation period is from May to December 2023.

According to the Center, with the dangerous nature of rabies in dogs and cats, the 2023 smart mass mobilization model of the Center for Agricultural Technology and Services will help reduce the risk of disease outbreak and spread. At the same time, raise awareness and responsibility of people in managing dogs and cats for the community and actively vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies.

The Center also requested the People's Committees of wards and communes to guide and require dog and cat owners to strictly declare and comply with the keeping of dogs and cats within the family premises. At the same time, develop a plan to handle cases of rabies occurring in dogs and cats.
