Báo Lâm ĐồngBáo Lâm Đồng02/06/2023

(LĐ online) - Products with 3-star and 4-star OCOP certification from Lam Dong have gradually become more familiar to consumers nationwide. That is also the basis for customers and businesses to trust and seek out local products to promote production and product consumption links.

The One Commune One Product Program (OCOP Program) has been identified by the People's Committee of Lam Dong province as an important solution to develop the rural economy in the direction of developing internal resources and increasing value, associated with new rural construction.

Every inch of land on Lam Vien plateau, under the diligent hands of farmers, has created hundreds of products with characteristics from the Southern Central Highlands, appearing in supermarket systems, stores, from popular to high-end, reaching consumers.

At the raspberry farm of LangBian.F Dau Rung Company, the entire area is grown in a strictly closed environment according to 100% organic ORGANIC standards, achieving JAS certification - the leading "measure" of prestige and quality in Japan.

Currently, all 6 products of the Company have been certified with 4-star OCOP and have completed the application to upgrade to 5-star for 1 wine product.

That is why, in the process of building a brand for the product, besides quality, the Company also pays great attention to design, factory system, optimizing production process, diversifying trade channels... so that the product can reach a large number of customers across the country.

Be Thi Thu Huyen started a business with a 3-star OCOP certified cocoa product from the remote Cat Tien area. Huyen's project won first prize in the 2022 Lam Dong Province Creative Startup Ideas Competition organized by the Provincial Youth Union.

"Especially through e-commerce channels, products need to have the necessary certifications to build consumer trust as well as become partners to supply large orders for businesses. From here, products are "given wings" to not only increasingly affirm their value but also motivate farmers and businesses to boldly invest and have a more sustainable direction in the future" - Ms. Be Thi Thu Huyen - Head of the Cat Tien Cocoa Production and Processing Cooperative Group said.

Thanks to the products having the necessary certifications, cocoa products not only have stable output but are also sought after by international friends.

Lam Dong province's functional sector determined to closely follow the program's orientation of developing the rural economy in the direction of promoting internal resources and increasing the value of products.

According to Be Thi Thu Huyen, the most important thing is still the quality of the products as well as the business strategy of the enterprise and the Cooperative Group.

“The focus of the OCOP Program is to develop advantageous agricultural, non-agricultural and service products in each locality according to the value chain. Therefore, the province has encouraged and supported the development of high-quality products, typical of each locality and well received by the market. This is an important solution to develop the rural economy in the direction of developing internal strength and increasing value, associated with building new rural areas” - said Mr. Pham Hung, Head of the Department of Rural Development of Lam Dong province.

Reality has proven that OCOP products recognized with 3 stars or more have reached an increasingly large market, both domestically and internationally; at the same time, they have gained the trust of consumers. The subjects are business units and cooperatives that have sold products at better prices, bringing in greater revenue and profit.

Lam Dong province has encouraged and supported the development of good quality products, typical of localities and well received by the market.

Before learning about the OCOP Program, Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh - Director of Sao Vang Macca Trading - Service Company Limited (Tan Ha Commune, Lam Ha District) mainly focused on producing and supplying macadamia materials to local partners and retailers. After attending training courses and orientation on the OCOP Program, Mr. Chinh was guided by the local agricultural sector to complete the processes, invest in workshops, support machinery and equipment, and receive certificates on quality and food safety.

Up to now, his enterprise is a prominent unit in macadamia production and processing, linking with more than 30 farming households and exporting 30% of macadamia output to the Korean and Japanese markets.

As the leading locality in the province in terms of area and output, with many inspections from professional agencies, the quality of macadamia in Lam Ha has always been affirmed and received the acceptance of the market. Lam Ha is also developing 5 OCOP products from 3-star macadamia nuts. Of which, 2 products of Sao Vang Macca Trading - Service Company Limited and Huy Hieu Agricultural Products Company Limited are completing the procedures to be granted 5-star OCOP certification.

Thanks to the development of links and production expansion, jobs have also been created for local people, including ethnic minorities.

Statistics show that currently, most localities have been doing a very good job of promoting, appraising, evaluating, and recognizing OCOP products. Typical products include vegetables of all kinds, coffee, macadamia, tea, fruit trees, etc.

Lac Duong district has currently developed 28 OCOP products; in which, the most prominent are coffee, vegetable, raspberry products... which are not only favored by the market but also form connections, creating jobs for many subjects, especially ethnic minority areas.

Lac Duong district has proactively organized trade promotion programs to connect businesses to consume local products.

Mr. Le Chi Quang Minh added that the district has also completed and put into use the OCOP Product Introduction Center, established the OCOP Club, and a business coffee space... to help business owners exchange information, learn from experiences, promote products, share good practices, and help each other in production development. The district has also proactively organized trade promotion campaigns in provinces and cities to contribute to promoting and affirming the value of Lac Duong agricultural products to domestic and foreign markets.

Lam Dong currently has 177 OCOP products. Of which, there are 9 5-star products (2 products have been recognized, 7 products are being considered by the Central Government); 94 4-star products; 74 3-star products.

There are 103 subjects participating in the program; of which, 21 subjects are cooperatives, 58 business subjects, 19 establishments, individual households and 5 cooperative groups.

Through trade promotions, OCOP products have the opportunity to reach consumers nationwide and many products are available in supermarket chains and are favored by consumers.

Mr. Pham Hung - Head of the Department of Rural Development said that the effectiveness and influence of the OCOP Program are obvious. Through propaganda work, trade promotion activities and the success of previous entities have created strong motivation for new entities to participate in the program.

People have basically understood the purpose and meaning of the OCOP Program. Many localities have seen their potential and strengths to have appropriate solutions to develop OCOP products, contributing to increasing income and implementing well the production organization criteria of the National Target Program on building new rural cotton.

The OCOP program has contributed to transforming production towards increasing scale associated with value chains, increasing income for rural people, gradually bringing positive results, and increasingly improving product quality.

Lam Dong province's agricultural sector aims to have at least 200 OCOP products (190 provincial products, 10 national products) by 2023; consolidate and upgrade at least 10% of OCOP products that have been evaluated and classified; prioritize the development of OCOP products associated with product brands, develop rural tourism services; prioritize the development of cooperatives and small and medium enterprises, strive to have 20% of OCOP entities being cooperatives, 40% of entities being small and medium enterprises; 20% of OCOP entities building a value chain towards a circular economy; support 100% of Lam Dong OCOP products with a 3-star rating or higher to be put on e-commerce platforms...

Lam Dong aims to have 10 products recognized as 5-star OCOP in 2023

“We are completing the documents to upgrade the OCOP product from 4 stars to 5 stars. At that time, we will once again affirm the quality and position of Lam Ha macadamia nuts. At the same time, it will also be convenient for businesses in the process of exporting to more demanding markets,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Director of Sao Vang Macca Trading and Service Company Limited.

Mr. Ngo Thanh Son - Head of Trade Management Department, Lam Dong Department of Industry and Trade said that every year, the Department has organized many trade promotion programs inside and outside the province to introduce products as well as the image and people of Lam Dong.

Taking advantage of this, the Department of Industry and Trade also regularly coordinates with provinces and cities to promote the introduction and trade promotion of OCOP products in general as well as products bearing the brand name of Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land.

Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development affirmed that after 5 years of development, the OCOP Program has aroused the potential and advantages of rural areas to increase people's income; contributed to restructuring the agricultural sector associated with the development of small-scale industry, occupations, services and rural tourism; promoted sustainable development of the rural economy, on the basis of enhancing the application of digital transformation and circular economy, preserving cultural values, resource management, biodiversity conservation, landscape and rural environment, contributing to building new rural areas in depth, effectively and sustainably.
