In Yen Bai, there is a "golden island" on the 4th largest artificial lake in Vietnam. What flowers can't bloom in time?

Every March, an island in the middle of Thac Ba Lake (in Yen Binh District, Yen Bai Province, the 4th largest artificial lake in Vietnam) is filled with the yellow color of Phong Linh flowers (a flower originating from South America).

The yellow color of Phong Linh flowers contributes to beautifying the landscape of Thac Lake, making it more poetic and beautiful, attracting many tourists.

Located at Ruby Eco-tourism site (Yen Binh town, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province), Phong Linh flower island, about 3 hectares wide, was planted by Ho Thac Ba Trade and Tourism Joint Stock Company since 2020.

Currently, it is the time when Phong Linh flowers bloom in unison, wearing a brilliant yellow color, creating a poetic and charming scene, making Thac Ba Lake a unique and attractive destination, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and experience.

Ms. Luong Thi Ngoc, residing in Yen Bai city, Yen Bai province, excitedly said: "I have traveled to Thac Ba lake area many times. But this is the first time I checked in at Phong Linh flower hill.

The scenery here is really beautiful, the bright yellow flowers blend with the natural scenery surrounding the lake, giving me a feeling of comfort, freedom and openness when immersed in nature. I will definitely invite my friends and brothers to come here to check in and experience Hao Phong Linh island on Thac Ba lake island."

To visit Phong Linh flower island on Thac Ba lake, the journey starts from Ruby Eco-tourism Area at group 13, Yen Binh town, it takes visitors less than 10 minutes to travel by motorboat or canoe.

Coming to the "golden island", visitors will be overwhelmed by the brilliant Phong Linh flower forest, then eagerly enjoy the colors of nature, pose, and take photos.

Phong Linh Flower Island is located in the middle of Thac Ba Lake, the 4th largest artificial freshwater lake in Vietnam.

It only takes about 10 minutes by boat or canoe from the mainland to Phong Linh flower island.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoa in group 9, Yen Binh town, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province shared that she was quite surprised that on Thac Ba lake island there was such a beautiful and very large flower hill like this.

"Indeed, this is the first time I have seen such a large flower hill, as well as such a strange flower tree. I really hope that many people will come here to experience the Phong Linh flower on Thac Ba Lake. The flower hill is beautiful, the air is very fresh, very wonderful," said Ms. Hoa.

The Feng Ling tree originates from tropical and subtropical countries of South America, belongs to the group of woody plants, loves light and has a fast growth rate. When mature, the tree can reach a height of 5 to 10 meters.

Phong Linh flowers usually bloom in the dry season from February to May every year. This is also the time when the tree loses all its leaves, begins to sprout, grow and burst into brilliant clusters of flowers. The flowers grow in clusters at the ends of the branches, shaped like lovely little bells.

The most popular is the bright yellow color, but the flowers also come in purple and pink, creating an impressive scene when in full bloom and becoming a source of inspiration for artists and photographers.

Phong Linh flowers grown on an island of Thac Ba Lake (Yen Bai province) bloom from February to May every year when the tree sheds all its leaves and is sprouting new buds.

Photographer Thanh Mien said that this was his first time here and he found it very strange. "Although the weather was not sunny, the flowers in the garden looked very colorful and fresh.

This is also a new and strange feature for tourists inside and outside the province to come here to enjoy, film, take photos, check-in to promote the image of Yen Bai homeland, the image of Thac Ba lake is increasingly developing."

Currently, on the small islands of Thac Ba Lake, there are nearly 7 hectares of yellow Phong Linh trees in full bloom and 1 hectare of purple Phong Linh flowers expected to bloom in the near future.

With the brilliant colors of flowers, attracting the curiosity of tourists, this will become the motivation for businesses in Yen Binh district to continue investing and developing eco-tourism in Thac Ba lake area.

Mr. Tran Van Hung, Director of Thac Ba Lake Trading and Tourism Company, shared: "To attract tourists to Thac Ba Lake to relax, visit, experience and explore the scenic spots, the company will open roads for tourists to travel conveniently, clear and take care of clean trees. We also create a completely free playground for tourists to take photos at the flower islands."
