Thousands of people and tourists flocked to Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula (Da Nang) to pray for peace at the beginning of the year, causing a prolonged traffic jam.
According to VietNamNet, on the afternoon of January 29 (the first day of Tet), on the roads leading to Son Tra peninsula (Da Nang city), lines of cars lined up for kilometers from the foot of the mountain leading to check-in points.
In the cold weather, many tourists flock to Linh Ung Pagoda (Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang City) to pray for peace and luck.
The number of visitors to the pagoda was so large that the road leading to Son Tra peninsula was partially congested. From the central roads of Da Nang leading to the parking lot of Linh Ung pagoda, a line of cars inched their way to the parking area.
Faced with congestion, Da Nang traffic police had to mobilize additional forces to help regulate traffic through the area.
The parking lot at Linh Ung Pagoda is overloaded. This afternoon, authorities temporarily banned vehicles with 4-52 seats from entering the pagoda to limit traffic congestion.
An employee working at this temple said that the number of people coming to the temple started to increase from the morning of the first day of Tet.
Located on Son Tra Peninsula (Da Nang), Linh Ung Pagoda is about 10km northeast of the city center. Behind the mountain, in front of the sea, the pagoda is located in an area of rare natural beauty.
