GD&TĐ – At the end of grade 12, it seemed like the university dream had ended for Hua Thi Len, but with determination to overcome difficulties after 4 years of university, she became valedictorian.
Hua Thi Len (2002) is a K14 student majoring in Office Administration, Faculty of Management, Academy of Educational Management. After 4 years of university, she achieved a GPA of 3.67; she is one of the 100 outstanding valedictorians of Hanoi city to be honored in 2024.
Big turning point
Hua Thi Len was born into a farming family in Hong Thai commune, Binh Gia district, Lang Son province. Since childhood, Len's parents understood the importance of studying and tried to provide her with the best learning environment. Therefore, Len attended junior high school and high school at the district and provincial boarding schools for ethnic minorities with the full support of her family.
When she was preparing for her high school graduation exam, Len thought she would not continue studying because her family could not afford to pay for her entire university education. However, contrary to that thought, her parents encouraged her to continue studying and promised to support her as much as possible.
“After entering university, the Academy has many scholarship policies to support students overcoming difficulties, which is a factor that makes me more determined to study,” the valedictorian shared.
In 2020, the Covid epidemic broke out and spread across the country, which was also the year that the girl from Lang Son entered university with full confusion. Recalling that time, the female student used to work many daily-paid jobs during her free time on weekends to have money to cover living expenses, and to not depend too much on family support.
Len said: "When studying and working at the same time, I have to try to find a balance, especially when my study and work tasks overlap and are waiting for me to solve."
However, the female student puts her study goal first because she clearly realizes that the opportunity to study comes to her extremely difficult, so she appreciates her parents' sacrifice even more.
Responding to the expectations of the home front, Len graduated from the Academy of Educational Management with a GPA of 3.67/4, achieving many titles of Excellent Student, Excellent Student and many valuable scholarships at home and abroad such as the Hessen scholarship awarded by the state of Hessen, Germany to students who overcome difficulties to study well in the Hanoi area and neighboring provinces. In addition to good academic results, his scientific research topics were published in the Science Journal of Hanoi National University of Education,...
When asked about the special study method he uses, Len said: "Each semester I only set specific goals such as winning a scholarship, and from there I allocate as much time as possible to study to achieve that result."
Looking back on my growth in college, I shared: “Compared to the first days of school, I have learned many skills to interact with people around me. My expertise has been developed in practice, I have learned how to research and update information for my work.”
Joy and experience from scientific research
Starting scientific research in her second year of university, the girl from Lang Son could not help but be surprised by the things she encountered for the first time, the difficulty in determining the direction to solve the topic, thoughts like: I can't do it, I can't do it, made Len extremely stressed.
During that time, Len's academic advisor - also her instructor, Ms. Nguyen Dieu Cuc, always accompanied her scientific research group, shared her experiences and gave her guidance to help her choose a topic.
“She always compliments me on the little things I do, like interviewing well, getting important information, or finding practical resources,” Len shared, adding, “With words of encouragement like that, I have more motivation to study and try my best.”
For Hua Thi Len, scientific research is a good opportunity to acquire knowledge that is difficult to find in the classroom, from the smallest things such as communicating with interviewees, knowing how to select information, search for documents effectively and present documents neatly and scientifically in accordance with the style and specific requirements of the Office Administration industry.
Having gained such valuable experience early on, Len's second internship at the Organization and Administration Department, Academy of Educational Management went smoothly with the attentive care of the teachers, especially the Head of the Organization and Administration Department.
“He is like a friend, always telling his stories about the work an office administrator has to do, sharing frankly what students can contribute to the Improvement Department to help interns adapt better to office work at the Academy,” the female student shared proudly.
Guiding and supporting her throughout 4 years of university as an academic advisor, Dr. Nguyen Dieu Cuc - lecturer at the Academy of Educational Management commented: "Student Hua Thi Len is an example in studying and developing herself. Although her family is in difficult circumstances, she always strives and achieves excellent academic results, becoming the valedictorian of the K14 QTVP major. Besides, she also actively participates in community activities to contribute knowledge and youth to society."
