Poor female student gets special admission to police academy

A female student was proposed by the Provincial Police Director to be specially admitted to the People's Police Academy because of her studious spirit, and was approved.

On the evening of September 3, Nguyen Khanh Linh, a former student of class 12A3 at Vu Quang High School, Vu Quang District, said she received notice of admission to the People's Public Security Academy on August 31.

"I was very surprised, then extremely happy because my dream of becoming a police officer for many years had come true," Linh said.

Previously, Linh won first prize in the 2023 national Geography competition and applied for direct admission to the Academy. However, the school only had one quota for women under this method in the North, so Linh was not admitted. Linh applied and prepared to study at a teacher training college.

This result was proposed by Colonel Nguyen Hong Phong, Director of Ha Tinh Provincial Police. He said he had read several articles about Linh's determination to study and her desire to enter a school in the armed forces. When the female student failed to pass the entrance exam, some people texted her phone number, "asking for help and creating the best conditions for this special situation."

Colonel Phong then directed his subordinates to check and found it to be true, so he proposed that the Ministry of Public Security give Khanh Linh special permission to enter the People's Public Security Political Academy.

"He is a person with very special circumstances, his parents are not as clear-minded as others, but he has made great efforts to achieve high academic results. I sympathize with him, so I boldly propose direct admission," said Mr. Phong.

According to the Director of Ha Tinh Provincial Police, after three weeks, the Ministry of Public Security's Training Department announced that the Minister decided to give Khanh Linh special admission to the school. This is the only special admission that the Ministry has given to Ha Tinh province.

Khanh Linh was born into a poor farming family, her parents were often sick. In addition to studying, the girl went to the fields to help her mother with farm work. However, during her three years of high school, Khanh Linh always achieved good academic results. Linh's average score in grade 12 was 9.
