This year, police schools will only consider foreign certificates combined with exams, instead of school grades like last year.
The above information was announced by Major Trieu Thanh Dat, chief specialist of the Training Department, Ministry of Public Security at the 2025 Admissions and Career Counseling Day held this morning (March 16) in Hanoi.
According to Major Dat, in 2025, police schools will agree to use 3 admission methods for new regular university admissions, including: direct admission (candidates who won first prize in national excellent student competitions or science and technology competitions and candidates in national teams participating in international competitions); admission combined with international language certificates and the results of the Ministry of Public Security's assessment test; admission combined with the 2025 high school graduation exam scores and the results of the Ministry of Public Security's assessment test.
With two combined admission methods, the Ministry of Public Security converts admission scores according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, without dividing quotas according to each method.
It is expected that candidates with IELTS 5.5 or higher can participate in the combined admission exam.
In addition, the Ministry of Public Security plans to expand the combinations for candidates registering for the admission method combined with international foreign language certificates. "These adjustments aim to implement the Ministry of Public Security's policy of improving the quality of recruitment sources, ensuring that graduates are fluent in foreign languages," Major Dat emphasized.

Regarding the registration procedure, this year candidates will register at the commune-level police station where they registered their permanent residence, as the district-level police station has been removed. The commune police station will issue a certificate of completion of registration and notify the preliminary selection schedule.
Regarding the enrollment period, candidates should register at schools before April 15. After April 15, continue to complete the application and conduct the preliminary selection. The commune-level police will organize the preliminary selection, ensuring that candidates meet the standards of politics, ethics, academic ability, and health, and complete before May 30.
In 2025, the Ministry of Public Security's assessment test will have 4 test codes (last year there were only 2 test codes) to match the new general education program. The test consists of 3 parts: mandatory essay, mandatory multiple choice and optional multiple choice.
The compulsory essay section includes one social argumentation question with a maximum total score of 25. The compulsory multiple choice section includes 35 questions in Math (35 points), 10 questions in History (10 points), and 20 questions in Foreign Language (15 points). The optional multiple choice section has 15 questions (15 points), and candidates choose one of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Geography. Candidates take the test in 180 minutes, with a total score of 100.
Of which, 70% is grade 12 knowledge; 30% is grade 10 and grade 11 knowledge. Questions at the knowledge and understanding level account for 30% of questions, application level accounts for 50% of questions, high application level accounts for 20% of questions.
Previously, the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to allocate enrollment quotas for public security academies and schools in 2025. Of which, the total enrollment quota for full-time university is 2,200; for intermediate level, 300; and for second degree, 850.
