DNVN - 40 leading Czech enterprises in the fields of agriculture and food industry in the Delegation of the Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic are visiting Vietnam (from March 18-20). These enterprises wish to maximize the trade potential with Vietnamese partners.

Speaking at the “Czech-Vietnamese Agricultural Business Forum” on the afternoon of March 20, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Quoc Tri said that Vietnam has been gradually affirming its competitive position in the global agricultural, forestry and fishery (AFF) market.

Vietnamese agricultural products have expanded strongly to the world, present in over 190 countries and territories, including many demanding markets such as the US, Japan, and the EU. Vietnam's agricultural exports rank second in Southeast Asia and 15th in the world. In 2023, the export turnover of agricultural products will reach over 53 billion USD, with a trade surplus of over 12 billion USD, an increase of 43.7% compared to 2022.

40 leading Czech companies in the field of agriculture and food industry attended the forum.

Vietnam is increasingly integrating deeply into the world economy through its participation in 15 new-generation free trade agreements with over 60 countries and territories. More than 90% of tariff lines will be reduced to 0%. This is considered a great advantage for investors when investing and doing business in Vietnam.

“I hope the forum will introduce to Czech businesses and investors the potential, advantages and investment needs in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors of Vietnam.

At the same time, this is also a good opportunity for businesses from both sides to meet and exchange information. Moving towards promoting the signing of cooperation agreements, production and business, joint ventures, associations, in trade and investment for mutual benefit," said Mr. Tri.

At the forum, Mr. Marek Vyborny - Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic expressed his belief that the forum will bring new cooperation ideas. Create conditions for the business community of both sides to learn more deeply, contributing to the development of joint projects and business activities between the two countries.

The Czech Republic is known for its industry, with high-quality automobiles at the forefront. However, the country is completely self-sufficient in most agricultural products such as cereals, rapeseed, potatoes, sugar beets, hops and grapes.

Mr. Marek Vyborny - Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic expressed his belief that the forum will bring new cooperation ideas.

“We are famous all over the world for exporting beer, hops, malt, dairy and meat products, confectionery, bread and food chemicals. Along with that, we export high-quality farm animal breeds and genetic materials extracted from livestock,” Mr. Marek Vyborny emphasized.

According to the Czech Republic's Minister of Agriculture, trade between the Czech Republic and Vietnam in the agricultural sector is growing strongly. The two sides still have much potential to continue expanding and developing cooperation.

The agricultural trade turnover between the countries has shown positive signs of growth, showing that the two sides are successful in promoting two-way bilateral trade. The appointment of Mr. Luboš Marek as representative of the Czech Ministry of Agriculture in Ho Chi Minh City is aimed at supporting the Czech-Vietnamese business community to easily connect and cooperate in the fields of agriculture and food.

“On my business trip to Vietnam this time, I am accompanied by 40 leading Czech enterprises operating in the fields of agriculture and food industry. The enterprises present here today are very interested in expanding cooperation with Vietnam and wish to make the most of the trade potential between the two countries,” said Mr. Marek Vyborny.
