Reuters quoted police officer Salve as saying that the explosion occurred at around 8:30 a.m. (local time) at the explosives factory of Solar Industries India. This factory specializes in manufacturing industrial and military explosives, explosives for rockets and warheads.

Mr Salve said nine workers were killed and several others injured. The victims were taken to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment but the death toll could rise.
Police have arrived at the scene of the explosion and are investigating the cause. Preliminary information suggests the explosion occurred in the packaging area of the factory.
Mr. Ashish Shrivastav, senior manager of Solar Industries, also said that the accident happened at a place where explosives were packed for use in coal mines.
India's ANI news agency quoted officials as saying that there were a total of 12 workers at the scene when the explosion occurred, killing nine people (including six women) and injuring three others.
The Maharashtra state government has paid 500,000 rupees (146 million VND) to the families of each deceased victim.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of the central Indian state expressed condolences to the victims and directed authorities to provide timely and proper treatment to the injured.
