The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just announced a decision on assigning enrollment targets for grade 10 to public and autonomous public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year. Of these, 115 non-specialized public high schools enroll 78,400 students, 4 specialized schools enroll more than 2,700 students, and the rest are in 3 autonomous public schools.

Most schools increased the number of 10th grade seats compared to last year, commonly adding 45 - 90 seats (equivalent to 1 - 2 classes); some schools increased to 135 or 180 seats (equivalent to about 3 - 4 classes).

Notably, some top high schools this year increased their enrollment quota for grade 10 quite strongly, with Viet Duc High School recruiting 945 students, an increase of 135 students compared to last year; Tran Phu - Hoan Kiem High School recruiting 765 students, an increase of 90 students; Kim Lien High School recruiting 765 students, an increase of 90 students; Yen Hoa High School recruiting 765 students, an increase of 90 students; Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, Xuan Dinh High School, My Dinh High School... all increased by 90 students compared to last year.

The school with the largest increase in quota compared to last year is Ly Thuong Kiet High School, with a total assigned quota of 675 students, an increase of 180 quotas.

In addition to Viet Duc High School, which increased its enrollment quota by 135, some schools in the suburbs also increased their enrollment quota by the same amount, such as Da Phuc High School and Thuong Tin High School. The most common increase is 90 enrollment quotas at dozens of schools, spread across all enrollment areas of Hanoi.

On the other hand, Phung Khac Khoan High School - Thach That reduced its quota the most by 135; Hop Thanh High School reduced 90 quotas; Phu Xuyen High School and My Duc B High School reduced 45 quotas each.

On the same day, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also decided to assign enrollment targets for grade 10 in the next school year to 29 vocational and continuing education centers in the city. The total target assigned to the centers is 270 classes with 12,080 students.

Vocational education and continuing education centers organize 10th grade enrollment by examination. Accordingly, the units will consider enrollment based on the training and learning results of students at the junior high school level (if a grade is repeated, the results of the re-study year of that grade will be used). Students wishing to apply for admission to vocational education and continuing education centers will submit their applications from April 21.

Previously, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, affirmed: "In order to facilitate students and reduce pressure on students' families, the Department of Education and Training is trying to increase the rate of students admitted to grade 10 of public high schools this year from about 64% or more. Thus, the number of students admitted to grade 10 of public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year will increase by about 3% compared to previous years.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi is expected to have about 127,000 9th grade students registering for the secondary school graduation recognition exam.

According to the plan, on April 18, educational institutions will collect application forms for admission to grade 10 high school, collect and check direct admission application files of students; and complete the issuance of student codes and passwords to grade 9 students.

No later than May 15, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the number of students applying to each high school.

The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in the city will take place on June 7 and 8. Students wishing to apply to grade 10 of four specialized high schools in Hanoi will take the specialized subject exam on June 9.
