MobiFone being transferred to the Ministry of Public Security, resuming the auction of 3 land lots in Thu Thiem New Urban Area, and Rang Dong Plastic's poor business performance were among the economic highlights of the past week.
1. From March 1, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises ceased its operations , 18 corporations and general companies were transferred to the Ministry of Finance for management. In particular, MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation was transferred to the Ministry of Public Security.
2. After the auction of 4 "golden land" lots that shook the market on December 10, 2021, Ho Chi Minh City plans to restart the auction of three land lots in Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City) in the second quarter of 2025 with a starting price of more than VND5,000 billion.
3. After an urgent meeting with the State Bank on the afternoon of February 25, many commercial banks simultaneously adjusted their deposit interest rates. in a sharp downward direction, with the highest decrease reaching 0.7%/year.
Notably, interest rates on deposits at many important terms have officially dropped below 6% per year, creating room for lending rates to decrease further in the coming time.
4. Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) will carry out 3 projects to renovate Vinh International Airport, Total investment is nearly 1,000 billion VND, expected to be completed in 2025.
To repair the existing runway, Vinh International Airport is expected to close for construction before June 30, 2025, and resume operations before December 31, 2025.
5. On February 26, in a document sent to the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) explaining the delay in submitting information disclosure, Rang Dong Holding Joint Stock Company (Rang Dong Plastic - RDP) said that since the second half of last year, its financial situation has encountered many difficulties.
This led to the company jumping to the bad debt group in the national credit system. Subsidiaries and parent companies all temporarily stopped operating, and most of the employees quit their jobs.
6. On February 25, Jeil Group (Korea) started the Jeil Logistics 1 project at Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park, Hai An district, Hai Phong .
The project will be one of the core infrastructures in the supply and distribution chain in Vietnam, while creating many new jobs and promoting the socio-economic development of Hai Phong.
7. Convenience store chain 7-Eleven announced recruitment for its plan to open its first store in Hanoi , marking a big step forward in its development strategy in Vietnam.
This is a notable move after 8 years of operation in Ho Chi Minh City, where 7-Eleven has set up 124 stores.
