As an area directly affected by the historic typhoon Yagi, the northern provinces suffered many severe consequences. However, with many synchronous and comprehensive solutions combined with the movement to support compatriots in the storm's eye, the people of the North have partly overcome difficulties and returned to normal life.
The past two weeks have been a turbulent time as the whole country faced the devastating devastation from the historic Typhoon Yagi. In that context, a series of emotional images such as the entire ferry village "joining the battle" to provide relief, thousands of overnight buses driving from the South to the North to provide necessities, or a 76-year-old professor donating a savings book of 1 billion VND as a consolation and sharing with the North struggling to fight the flood.
People from all regions join hands to fight and "concentrate efforts" to overcome
Shining in the past few days is the spirit of mutual love of the people of the North - people who are willing to sacrifice themselves to help despite danger. Those are the boat owners at Huong Pagoda who quickly transported boats to Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Yen Bai provinces to promptly help those stranded in the flood waters. Or when high floods threatened the people of the provinces along the Red River in Hanoi, many people still "immediately" ordered many types of boats and buoys to send back to the mountains. More specifically, the numbers of people providing relief have been continuously updated: 200 volunteers are on the phone day and night every week to receive calls for help from people; nearly 100 volunteer applications to participate in flood recovery activities.
In the midst of this dire situation, the help of people in the remaining areas is an important link to add strength. Many individuals in the South, Central and overseas Vietnamese who cannot contribute but are willing to contribute money to help reduce the burden of overcoming the consequences. As of 5:00 p.m. on September 18, 2024, the Central Relief Mobilization Committee's account has received a total of VND 1,432 billion. This is a clear demonstration of solidarity and deep sympathy for the people in the flood-affected areas.
Any amount is precious, donations are now "sponsored"
The highlight of this flood prevention “campaign” is that the units representing state agencies have directly received donations and distributed them directly to the right recipients. This move has contributed to increasing the trust of the entire population when they know that their donations are transferred to reputable accounts sponsored by state agencies. People can now look up their donations transparently on the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Fanpage.
At the same time, this move also reinforces vigilance against unofficial accounts. The fact that individuals and organizations have always stood up to call for support and assistance to our compatriots to overcome difficulties caused by epidemics and natural disasters is a noble and humane gesture; however, many cases of fraud have also been discovered. The consequence of this situation is that the support has not been given to the right people.
This time, people across the country can safely transfer money directly to the Vietnam Fatherland Front through account number “2024” at the Military Bank (MB). Short and easy to remember, MB hopes to accompany the people to speed up the relief and reconstruction of people's lives.
