High demand, many flights fully booked near Tet

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, during the peak period serving the Lunar New Year, from February 2 to February 9 (23 to 30 of the 12th lunar month), flights from Ho Chi Minh City to other localities have very high booking rates.

These include routes such as Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong (from 85-98%), Ho Chi Minh City - Hue (from 86-99%), Ho Chi Minh City - Pleiku (from 88-99%), Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa (from 85-96%), Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai (from 92-98%), Ho Chi Minh City - Quang Binh (from 89-103%), Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh (from 90-98%).

Notably, with airlines adding capacity, some local routes have become less "hot" compared to last week and some days still have seats available.

Accordingly, the flight route Ho Chi Minh City - Buon Ma Thuot has a booking rate of 76-83% on February 3-5, and the flight route Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa on February 2 (70%), February 8 (85%) and February 9 (72%) passengers can still buy tickets.

Similarly, the Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon route on February 3 and 9 has a booking rate of 76-78%. The Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh route on February 9 has a new booking rate of 67%.

Compared to last week, the booking rate on the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route during this period has started to increase, spreading evenly across the days with a rate of 56 -73%.

During this period, the booking rate for flights from localities to Ho Chi Minh City is very low, averaging 20-30%, with many flights being empty. The same goes for flights from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, with an average rate of about 30%.

From February 13 to February 18 (the 4th to 9th of the first lunar month), many flights from local airports to Ho Chi Minh City are having high booking rates.

Some routes have sold out in some days such as: Buon Ma Thuot - Ho Chi Minh City (from 75-100%), Ca Mau - Ho Chi Minh City (from 80-100%), Hai Phong - Ho Chi Minh City (from 87-99%), Hue - Ho Chi Minh City (82-99%), Pleiku - Ho Chi Minh City (from 88-100%), Tuy Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City (94-99%), Thanh Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City (83-100%), Quy Nhon - Ho Chi Minh City (from 95-100%), Chu Lai - Ho Chi Minh City (from 97-100%), Dong Hoi - Ho Chi Minh City (from 95-100%), Vinh - Ho Chi Minh City (from 80-100%).

From February 13 to February 18 (ie January 4 to 9 of the Lunar calendar), the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City flight route has a high pre-booking rate. Except for February 13, this rate is only over 56%, the remaining days are all over 80%. Of which, the rate on February 17 and 18 is 94%.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, during this period, all 15 aircraft leased with crew (wet lease) of Vietnamese airlines have been put into operation.

Currently, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is continuing to direct and coordinate with airlines and airports to supplement the supply capacity, expected to be 2-3 flights/day on some routes from Ho Chi Minh City to localities with high demand .
