The incident is said to have occurred at the 5-star Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in Pathum Wan district, Bangkok.
According to Matichon newspaper, the incident took place at around 5:30 p.m. on July 16 (local time), when hotel staff found one of the bodies in the hotel grounds. Later, five other bodies were found in a guest room. Many images show police entering the hotel lobby.
Meanwhile, the Bangkok Post reported that three men and three women were found dead in a room, with no signs of a struggle. Their luggage was found near the main door.
Reuters reported that the victims were all Vietnamese and were all found dead at the hotel. However, Matichon listed the victims’ names, saying they included four Vietnamese and two Vietnamese-Americans (three men and three women). The ages of the three men were 37, 49 and 55, respectively. The ages of the three women were 46, 47 and 56.

Thailand's Matichon newspaper and many Thai media initially reported a shooting in the country's capital on the evening of July 16.
The unnamed police officer denied earlier reports in Thai media that six people had been killed in a shooting. He told Reuters , without elaborating, "There were no signs of a shooting."
Matichon newspaper later reported that the initial cause of death was poisoning. It was reported that the victims had consumed tea and coffee before their deaths.
According to the Bangkok Post , no bruises were found on the victims' bodies. Local authorities confirmed that they died of poisoning, although it is still unclear whether they committed suicide or were poisoned. Initial investigations indicate that the cause of death was related to cyanide poisoning.
Police are examining surveillance footage and questioning witnesses for clues. The Thai prime minister has ordered an investigation into the incident.
Ratchaprasong is a shopping and entertainment district located next to the famous Siam area, home to many large shopping malls such as MBK Center. Last year, a 14-year-old boy opened fire at the luxury Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok's bustling commercial district, killing two people and injuring five.
