On the morning of March 28, the prices of SJC gold bars and gold rings continued to be adjusted up by SJC, PNJ, and DOJI businesses to VND98.4 million/tael for buying and VND100.4 million/tael for selling, a shocking increase of VND1.5 million per tael compared to yesterday morning. Thus, since the beginning of the week, the price of SJC gold bars has increased by nearly VND3 million/tael.
This is the highest price of gold bars ever, reaching the peak set two weeks ago.
SJC Gold Company also increased the price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry to 98 million VND/tael for buying and 99.7 million VND/tael for selling, an increase of 1 million VND/tael compared to yesterday morning. In the past 3 days, the price of gold rings also increased rapidly by nearly 3 million VND/tael.
Notably, despite the shocking increase, businesses kept the difference between buying and selling prices below VND2 million/tael, much lower than the difference of VND3-3.5 million/tael during periods of strong gold price fluctuations.
Both SJC gold bar and gold ring prices exceeded 100 million VND/tael.
Some other brands such as PNJ gold rings were sold at 99.9 million VND/tael; Bao Tin Minh Chau sold over this mark, up to 100.4 million VND/tael.
Domestic gold prices increased rapidly following world prices. In the international market, gold prices today, after surpassing the 3,000 USD/ounce mark, set a new record high. At 9:00 a.m., Vietnam time, today's gold price was traded at 3,073 USD/ounce, up about 20 USD/ounce compared to yesterday morning, continuing to break the record of 3,058 USD set last night.
The demand for gold as a safe haven continues to drive the price of gold to a sparkling high, with each peak higher than the previous. The latest move by US President Donald Trump is to announce a 25% tariff on all imported cars.
This tax is expected to take effect on April 2. The US tariff policy with some countries has made investors worried about trade tensions, pouring capital into gold.
Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 95.4 million VND/tael.
