The Prime Minister reprimanded Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh and warned Vice Chairman of the province Nguyen Hong Quang, due to violations and shortcomings in work.
A series of disciplinary decisions against leaders and former leaders of Quang Nam province were signed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on behalf of the Prime Minister on January 18.
In addition to the two current leaders who were disciplined, former provincial chairman Dinh Van Thu and former provincial vice chairman Huynh Khanh Toan were also warned. Mr. Tran Dinh Tung was stripped of his position as Vice Chairman of Quang Nam province for the 2016-2021 term.
The disciplinary period for Mr. Thanh, Thu, Quang, and Toan is calculated from November 30, 2023; for Mr. Tung, it is calculated from December 21, 2023.

In mid-November 2023, the Central Inspection Commission concluded that the Party Executive Committee of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations; lacked responsibility, and loosened leadership and direction. As a result, the Provincial People's Committee and many organizations and individuals violated Party regulations and State laws in the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic and receiving citizens returning home to prevent and fight the epidemic; managed and used land for a number of investment projects and implemented projects/bid packages carried out by the International Progress Joint Stock Company (AIC); many officials and Party members were criminally prosecuted.
The above violations have "caused serious consequences, damage and risk of major damage to State money and property, bad public opinion in society, affecting the reputation of the Party organization and local government, to the point of requiring consideration and disciplinary action".

Mr. Phan Viet Cuong, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, was proposed to be disciplined. Mr. Cuong then asked to retire 6 months early due to health reasons.
A series of leaders and former leaders of Quang Nam province were disciplined by the Central Inspection Commission from reprimand to expulsion from the Party. Mr. Dinh Van Thu, Huynh Khanh Toan, and Nguyen Hong Quang were warned about the Party. Mr. Le Tri Thanh was reprimanded.
In mid-December 2023, Mr. Tran Dinh Tung was dismissed by the Secretariat from the position of member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee for the 2015-2020 term and member of the Party Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term.
