The President will be elected by the National Assembly next October.

On the afternoon of August 26, immediately after the end of the extraordinary session of the National Assembly, the Office of the National Assembly held a press conference on the results of the session.

At the press conference, Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong emphasized some of the results of the session. In particular, comrade Ho Duc Phoc holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term; and continues to be Minister of Finance until the position of Minister of Finance is completed.

Comrade Bui Thanh Son holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term; and continues to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Next October (at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly - PV), the National Assembly will elect the President.

Regarding the National Assembly's approval of the Resolution to add the number of Deputy Prime Ministers so that the Government of the 15th National Assembly term has 5 Deputy Prime Ministers (an increase of 1 Deputy Prime Minister compared to the present), according to Mr. Bui Van Cuong, this has been agreed upon in principle.

Speaking more about this, at the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the 15th National Assembly Standing Committee, said that according to the Central Committee's plan, from now until the end of 2024, the Party will focus on perfecting the positions of senior leaders and Party committees and authorities at all levels to strengthen the Party's leadership role in the tasks of socio-economic development, culture, national defense and security, foreign affairs and prepare for Party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress. The perfecting of personnel is to ensure that the political system is more complete, more united, more harmonious, stronger, operates more effectively and efficiently, and creates more favorable conditions for socio-economic development, improves people's lives, strengthens ties with the people, and consolidates people's trust in the Party and the State.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Uncle Ho once said that cadres are the root of work and are very important, deciding everything. Current cadre work is arranged in an upward and downward direction, with in and out according to task requirements, work needs and the ability to complete tasks of each specific individual.

"The National Assembly's high consensus in approving three Deputy Prime Ministers and two ministers at this session is to achieve the above goal, demonstrating high solidarity and unanimity," Ms. Hai emphasized.
