Binh Dinh pioneers and is responsible for international racing
On the morning of March 30, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province coordinated with the UIM International Motor Boat Federation and Binh Dinh F1 Joint Stock Company to organize the opening ceremony of the UIM F1H2O International Professional Motor Boat Race at Thi Nai Bay (Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized that the opening ceremony and Binh Dinh Sports, Culture and Tourism Week 2024 (AMAZING BINH DINH FEST 2024) are solemn events to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of Binh Dinh province (March 31, 1975 - March 31, 2024), towards the 49th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024).
Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and leaders of central ministries and Binh Dinh province attended the opening ceremony.
In particular, the UIM F1H20 International Powerboat Race is the world's leading international powerboat race. It is highly competitive, challenging and exciting, offering the most spectacular sporting action and is considered one of the most exciting and spectacular water sports in the world. Over its 39 years of operation, the Race has hosted 295 Grand Prix events in more than 33 countries across five continents.
According to Mr. Tuan, Binh Dinh is very proud and honored to be the first locality in Vietnam to host the World Water Sports Championship and even more proud to have the host country's first motorboat racing team - the F1 H20 Binh Dinh - Vietnam motorboat racing team competing.
This is a special, high-class sporting event, visitors and speed sports fans will see skilled athletes conquer the waves and directly witness dramatic, exciting races.
"With all responsibility and determination, in a short time, less than 1 year, Binh Dinh has completed the procedures, prepared the best conditions, ensured security and safety, and technical conditions to organize the tournament," Mr. Tuan emphasized.
Notably, the tournament was held in Thi Nai Bay, a sheltered and researched and surveyed area with a water surface area of over 5,000 hectares, with the most diverse mangrove ecosystem in the Central region; this area is known as the "green lung of Quy Nhon city" and the "precious gem of Binh Dinh province".
Binh Dinh Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung beat the drum to open the race.
Accordingly, Thi Nai Bay fully meets international standards on water surface, wind, nature, society and culture to become the venue for the UIM F1H20 International Powerboat Race.
The head of the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee said that the race promises to open a turning point for water sports in Vietnam, bringing a new model of sports economy associated with international events to spread throughout the country, promoting the image of the country, people of Binh Dinh and Vietnam to the world...
It is known that at the grand prix race in Thi Nai lagoon, there are 18 racers from countries such as: United Arab Emirates, China, Portugal, Finland, Norway, France... For the first time, host Vietnam has a racing team participating in the tournament named Binh Dinh - Vietnam, with 2 red racing boats with the 5-pointed yellow star symbol.
Performances and competitions attract locals and tourists.
Vietnam has a Powerboat Racing Federation.
Also at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vu Chien Thang, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented the decision to allow the establishment of the Vietnam Powerboat Racing Federation to the leaders of Binh Dinh F1 Joint Stock Company - the host unit of the UIM F1H2O tournament, Grand Prix of Binh Dinh.
After its establishment, the Vietnam Powerboat Racing Federation will establish an academy to train professional human resources and issue certificates in Vietnam to participate in the race.
"The decision to establish the association is a premise for Vietnam to develop international-level water sports and create opportunities for domestic youth to practice and participate in this expensive race," emphasized Mr. Tran Viet Anh, Head of the Organizing Committee for the establishment of the Vietnam Sports Motorboat Federation.
Mr. Nicolo di San Germano (founder of H2O Racing) noted that he came to Vietnam and really wanted to develop this sport because he saw many potentials and advantages in developing marine sports here.
