In July, the Bac Kan Provincial Fatherland Front Committee focused on accelerating the completion of 250 Great Solidarity houses for the poor in July 2024. Not only is it a meaningful gift to welcome the Bac Kan Provincial Fatherland Front Congress, the sturdy houses built are the concern and sharing of the Front's staff with those in difficult circumstances. According to the roadmap, by the end of December 2024, all 500 houses for poor households will be handed over and put into use, with a total construction cost of 30 billion VND.

The family of Mr. Hoang Van Pham, Na Vai village, Bang Thanh commune, Pac Nam district is one of the families that has just been handed over a Great Solidarity house by the Provincial “For the Poor” Fund Mobilization Committee. In the new, spacious house, Mr. Pham is very happy because now the whole family does not have to live in a dilapidated, unsafe house.

“Although life is still difficult, when we heard that our family was supported by the Front to build a Great Solidarity House, my wife and I were determined to borrow more from the Social Policy Bank and relatives to build a new place to live to replace the degraded wooden house. Having a stable place to live, my wife and I also have more motivation to work with peace of mind, gradually stabilizing our lives,” Mr. Pham shared.

During this period, the family of Mr. Ly Van No, Nam Cap village, Cong Bang commune, Pac Nam district, also completed the construction of a new, more spacious house. The house, with an area of 40 square meters, is simple but warm and affectionate. On the day of receiving the Great Solidarity house, Mr. No emotionally shared: “Previously, due to difficult economic circumstances, my family had to live in a temporary house made of mixed wood. With the financial support of the “For the Poor” Fund, and the police and government supporting labor and materials, my family was able to build a more spacious and spacious house. With a stable place to live, the whole family does not have to worry every time the rainy and stormy season comes. We thank the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.”

Regarding activities to care for the poor and social security, Chairwoman of the Bac Kan Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Do Thi Minh Hoa said that in recent years, the province has focused on leading and directing the work of poverty reduction, in which, it has focused on mobilizing resources to support the construction of houses for poor and near-poor households. Up to now, more than 2,200 poor and near-poor households in the province have been supported to repair and build new houses to ensure safety. However, the lives of a part of the people in the area still face many difficulties, many families are living in temporary houses, dilapidated houses, not ensuring safety when floods, storms occur. The whole Bac Kan province still has more than 18,000 poor households and nearly 7,500 near-poor households, of which 7,266 poor households and 937 near-poor households lack housing quality; about 3,100 households lack housing area.

To completely eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households, Ms. Hoa said that the Standing Committee of the Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee has issued a Resolution to strengthen leadership and direction in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties in the province. The goal is that by the end of 2025, the whole province will complete the elimination of 2,000 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households. Each new house completed means that a poor household will have a stable place to live without having to worry about housing, thereby being able to work and produce with peace of mind, rising out of poverty.
