The reason why spring water in Binh Phuoc turns red

VTC NewsVTC News06/12/2024

On December 6, the leader of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Phuoc province said that the agency had determined the cause of the stream water in Minh Long ward, Chon Thanh town turning red.

Accordingly, this incident occurred because Khoi Nguyen Paper Joint Stock Company (D6 Street, Minh Hung III Industrial Park, Minh Hung Ward, Chon Thanh Town) leaked red dye during transportation. This dye was then washed away by company workers, flowing into the stormwater drainage system and down the stream.

Through initial testing, the authorities determined that this dye does not contain any toxic ingredients. However, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Phuoc province is still taking water samples for detailed analysis and making a final conclusion.

Previously, Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reported that on the morning of December 3, local people discovered that the water at Suoi Mot, in group 1, quarter 4, Minh Long ward, Chon Thanh town, was unusually dyed red.

People suspect that there may be a company or manufacturing facility that has discharged industrial waste into the environment, causing serious water pollution.

Out of fear, people filmed videos, took photos, posted them on social networks, and reported them to authorities to quickly find the cause and handle violations to ensure community safety.

Immediately after receiving information about the discolored stream water, the inspection team conducted a field survey at Suoi Mot and surrounding areas.
