At 9:44 p.m. on November 21, house number 84 Ngo Thi Nham, Pham Dinh Ho ward, Hai Ba Trung district suddenly caught fire, accompanied by crackling sounds. Very quickly after that, the fire flared up fiercely, causing panic among the residents.
Fire engulfed the house and locked the doors.
At that time, the homeowner's family was away and the door was locked. While waiting for the authorities to come and put out the fire, three young men used sticks to break the lock, grabbed a fire extinguisher and rushed in to control the fire.
After 49 seconds, the fire was extinguished. The fire caused no casualties. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit.
After that, a clip recording the scene of 3 young men breaking down the door and using a fire extinguisher to put out the fire in a house was spread on social media and received a "storm" of compliments. The online community called the 3 young men "heroes" and thanked the 3 young men for their solidarity and bravery.
Three "heroes" who extinguished the fire were rewarded by the beer bar owner.
As one of the people involved in putting out the fire, Mr. Dang Van Dong (born in 1999, in Doan Hung, Phu Tho) said that at around 10 pm on November 21, he detected a burning smell and smoke coming from a house on Ngo Thi Nham Street. The house is located opposite the beer house where he works.
Minutes later, the fire engulfed and flared up strongly on the first floor of the house where there were many flammable materials.
"At that time, many people shouted but the house was locked from the outside so it was difficult to control the fire. I quickly used a crowbar to break the lock and break the door," Mr. Dong recounted.
When the lock popped open, Dong's two friends, Hoang Tuan Anh (born in 1989, in Cau Giay, Hanoi) and Tran Ngoc Hai (born in 1995, in Hoang Mai, Hanoi) took two fire extinguishers available in the beer hall and sprayed them directly at the location where the fire broke out. Less than a minute later, the fire was extinguished.
Ms. Nguyen Minh Huong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Pham Dinh Ho Ward (Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi) said that the fire broke out from a house that specializes in selling materials for motorbikes and cars. Upon discovering the incident, three residents and the security team controlled the fire.
These three people include: Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh (born in 1989, in Cau Giay, Hanoi); Mr. Tran Ngoc Hai (born in 1995, in Hoang Mai, Hanoi) and Mr. Dang Van Dong (born in 1999, in Doan Hung, Phu Tho).
"Three residents and the ward's security and order protection team and urban group handled the incident. We are proposing rewards," said Chairman of the ward People's Committee Pham Dinh Ho.
