Malaysian newspaper worries that the home team is in danger when the Vietnamese team naturalizes these two stars

In the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, Malaysia is in a group with Vietnam, Laos and Nepal.

Hendrio is in the process of applying for Vietnamese citizenship.

In this group, the Vietnamese team is considered the biggest opponent of the yellow and black team. Therefore, every move of Vietnamese football receives special attention from the press of this country.

In a recent article, Harimau Malaya newspaper expressed concern over the news that two players Rimario and Hendrio are completing procedures to enter Vietnam.

“Rimario started playing in the V-League in 2018 and has played for many famous teams. He is known for his physical strength, speed and sharpness in finishing.

Hendrio is a former Barcelona academy student and came to Vietnam in 2021. Since joining Nam Dinh Club, he has played a key role in midfield with technique and creativity," the newspaper commented.

In the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the teams will play a home and away match. Therefore, Vietnam and Malaysia will face each other twice.

In these two matches, the team that gets the better result will likely have a ticket to the next round.

Although the first leg is still more than 2 months away, Harimau Malaysia has expressed concern: “Vietnam is leading the group after a 5-0 victory over Laos. In this qualifying round, only the top team has the right to continue, so the competition between Vietnam and Malaysia will be very fierce.

The presence of two naturalized players will give Vietnam an advantage. The direct match against Vietnam in June will be decisive for Malaysia. If we fail to win, our Asian Cup dream could go up in smoke.”

However, whether Hendrio and Rimario will obtain Vietnamese citizenship or not is still a difficult story to say.

Rimario is now eligible for naturalization. While Hendrio has until March 2026 to meet FIFA's requirements.
