The working atmosphere in the fields these days is more urgent and bustling than ever.
Under the fields, tractors are busy tilling the soil; above the banks, excavators are mobilized to build embankments, ensuring favorable production for the people. This is the field area where Duc Lien commune has just deployed land accumulation to prepare for the spring crop production in 2024.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam (Binh Quang village, Duc Lien commune) happily said: “We have just drawn lots to receive rice fields. This crop, my family has 6 sao in a large-scale field. Looking at the flat rice fields and modernly invested canals, the people are very excited. Now, there are no longer high and low rice fields like before, the synchronous investment in the internal irrigation system will help people sow and plant conveniently. Hopefully, this spring crop will yield more than previous crops.”
Duc Lien commune mobilized excavators to build embankments, ensuring production for people.
It is known that Duc Lien commune is the first locality in the mountainous district of Vu Quang to implement the demolition of land banks and plot banks on an area of nearly 70 hectares to implement the policy of land conversion and reducing the number of plots on a field.
Mr. Le Van Hung - Chairman of Duc Lien Commune People's Committee said: "Implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU dated November 18, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on leadership and direction of land concentration and accumulation associated with new rural construction in the period of 2021 - 2025 and the following years, the district has selected the local rice fields for implementation. Up to now, after nearly 5 months of implementation, the locality has renovated the ground of nearly 70 hectares of rice fields in Dong Voi area in three villages: Binh Quang, Tan Le, Lien Chau. Currently, the division of rice fields to the people has been completed".
People of Duc Linh commune go to the fields to build dikes to retain water and weed to prepare for spring rice planting.
Not only Duc Lien commune, at this time, localities in Vu Quang area are focusing on working on the land and irrigation in the fields to keep up with the spring rice crop production schedule.
In Duc Linh commune, local people and authorities are focusing on dredging irrigation canals. Pump systems and sluice gates are also being maintained and repaired to meet the irrigation and drainage needs of local people. Up to now, the commune has basically completed dredging 100% of the canal system, ready to serve spring crop production.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tham (Cua Linh village, Duc Linh commune) said: "This year, the irrigation system was deployed early, the water source for production is abundant, so my family has less hardship than before. This season, my family has cultivated 8 sao, the land has been prepared, now we just have to wait for the day to plant according to the scheduled time frame".

Mr. Phan Xuan Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vu Quang district said: "For rice production, this year, the district will not structure 1 variety to more than 30% of the area. Mass varieties that have been produced for many years and have stable productivity such as: N98, Khang Dan, Xuan Mai 12 will continue to be used. In addition, groups of varieties with high yield and quality such as: DT39, CT16, Thai Xuyen, BT09, ADI 168... will continue to be prioritized. According to the time frame, the whole district will start sowing spring rice from January 15, 2024 and end before February 8, 2024".

According to Mr. Nam, with the strong leadership, the preparation for the new crop in the district is currently going quite smoothly. Localities are simultaneously implementing irrigation works in the fields; focusing on digging, dredging, and clearing the flow of canals.
Up to now, the plowed area of the district has reached more than 90%; the volume of irrigation excavation and embankment of the district has reached over 95% of the plan.
