The Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that people do not stockpile essential goods beyond necessary levels and prioritize areas heavily affected by storm No. 3.
Quick talk with the press on the morning of September 10 about the distribution assurance plan goods for provinces and cities that are being flooded due to the impact of storm No. 3, Mr. Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan - Deputy Head of Department Domestic market – Ministry of Industry and Trade Information, in the face of the complicated situation of floods and rains in many localities in the North, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Industry and Trade of localities have urgently grasped the situation and deployed the tasks of supplying goods before the time of storm No. 3 making landfall in the North. Therefore, there has been preparation of essential goods supply to ensure serving the people. People have proactively purchased and stockpiled goods before storm No. 3 made landfall.

On September 7, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Official Dispatch No. 6813/BCT-TTTN to the Department of Industry and Trade in 35 provinces/cities to prepare and coordinate essential goods in general and petroleum products in particular to promptly supply and ensure the necessary quantity of goods, food, and foodstuffs, ready to mobilize and bring to the market to serve the people.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also regularly and continuously contacts and directs the Department of Industry and Trade, distribution enterprises, and large-scale goods suppliers to update the developments of the goods market in provinces and cities affected by floods. In particular, it pays special attention to the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and a number of other provinces and cities that have been cut off and isolated due to storms and storm circulation to focus on supporting the supply of essential goods to localities.
“According to the situation report from the Department of Industry and Trade, as of 9:00 a.m. this morning (September 10), the supply of goods and prices of essential goods were basically stable, with no major price changes, except for some types of green vegetables which had a slight price increase due to difficulty in preservation.” - Mr. Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan informed.
Specifically in Thai Nguyen province, currently, essential goods serving people's consumption needs are being proactively supplied at first-class markets, supermarkets, convenience stores, Go, Lan Chi, Winmart, Minh Cau, Aloha supermarket systems, etc. are all guaranteed. Large petroleum trading units in the area proactively have plans to import goods in advance into warehouses and tanks, ensuring the supply of petroleum and gas for production and daily life.
In Yen Bai province, due to the rising water level of the Red River, Thanh Nien Street was flooded 2-3 meters. Goods at markets, stores, and supermarkets were still fully supplied and prices were stable.
In Lao Cai province, according to the Department of Industry and Trade, essential goods in high demand are mainly instant noodles and purified water for flooded and isolated areas, and households that have had to move to safe places. However, food and foodstuffs still ensure the daily needs of people in the province.
In the context of the potentially unusual weather situation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to maintain contact and direct localities to do everything possible to avoid disruption of the supply of essential goods.
“The Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that people stay calm, coordinate with state management agencies and functional forces to overcome damage and stockpile enough necessities, not stockpile more than necessary to prioritize areas heavily affected by storm No. 3.” - Mr. Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan recommended.
Regarding petroleum products, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to closely monitor the situation of localities and the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 90/CD-TTg dated September 9, 2024 on urgently providing food, foodstuffs, and necessities to serve the lives of people affected by storm No. 3 to have specific instructions for each locality in coordinating with functional units to regulate and transport goods, including petroleum products to serve people affected by storm No. 3.
In order to ensure adequate supply of essential goods and gasoline to serve the people, previously, on the afternoon of September 9, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued urgent dispatch No. 6851/BCT-TTTN to the Ministry of Transport and the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province regarding support for the transportation and supply of gasoline after storm No. 3.
