(NLDO) – Customers of 25 commercial banks can use NAPAS payment cards to take metro line 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.


From February 14, the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) announced that people in Ho Chi Minh City can use NAPAS payment cards to travel on the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien urban railway line No. 1 (metro No. 1).

The service is implemented by NAPAS in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) and Sacombank (as the payment bank) and 24 banks in the NAPAS system including: BIDV, Agribank, TPBank, SHB, BVBank, VietBank, SeABank, NamABank, Vietcombank, Wooribank, Techcombank, VIB, NCB, VietABank, Bao Viet Bank, PBVN, Kienlongbank, Saigonbank, BAB, Eximbank, MB, ACB, OCB, Vietinbank.

Accordingly, just tap the NAPAS card on the control device at the entrance gate (tap-in) and after finishing the journey at the exit gate (tap-out), the payment transaction for the trip will be completed.

People can use ATM cards and credit cards issued by NAPAS to take metro line 1 from February 14.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Hung, Deputy General Director of NAPAS, said that with the advantage of more than 80 million NAPAS cards from 25 participating banks, the NAPAS card payment service on metro line 1 helps promote the habit of cashless payment when participating in traffic, bringing convenience and safety to passengers, contributing to promoting green transportation and environmental protection, gradually reducing the manual ticketing system.

In the coming time, NAPAS said it will continue to expand the list of card issuing organizations in transport payments, creating synchronization and further enhancing convenience, meeting people's need for cashless payments.

NAPAS is a payment card issued by 68 banks and financial companies in Vietnam, the card number starts with 9704. The card applies advanced chip technology, deployed according to NAPAS's VCCS standard set on the basis of conformity and compliance with the regulations in the State Bank's domestic chip card basic standards and EMV international standards.

Currently, passengers traveling on Metro Line 1 will buy tickets at the price of 6,000 VND/trip/person; 40,000 VND/day/person, with no limit on trips per day, and a 3-day ticket price is 90,000 VND.
