According to statistics from the People's Committee of Hai Hau district, there are 615 fishing vessels in the district; of which, 204 are offshore fishing vessels; 411 are nearshore fishing vessels and vehicles. Up to now, all vessels and boats have been called to safe shelters.
The District People's Committee has also announced and implemented a plan to move all fishermen involved in fishing at sea, about 2,000 people, 285 workers in aquaculture outside the dike and participating in services, 160 concentrated in Thinh Long tourist area, 75 people in Hai Ly church area; 50 workers in aquaculture outside the dike to safe storm shelters.
To prevent and minimize the damage caused by the storm, since this morning, people in coastal districts of Nam Dinh province such as Hai Hau, Giao Thuy, Nghia Hung, have started cutting and trimming trees around their houses. Some households in Giao Thuy district have houses with corrugated iron roofs that have been reinforced by using plastic bags filled with water and placed on the roof.
In order to ensure safety of life and minimize property damage, the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province has requested agencies and units to focus on directing and implementing strict implementation of storm and flood prevention tasks at the highest level.
Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requested: Leaders of districts and cities to postpone non-urgent meetings, assign personnel to key areas to direct the implementation and inspection of storm and flood prevention and control work; ensure the safety of dike works, traffic safety, limit damage to houses, warehouses, headquarters, public works, etc.
Proactively arrange forces and means in key areas to be ready to promptly handle arising situations according to the "four on-site" motto.
Urgently harvest vegetables and effectively drain buffer water, especially in low-lying areas and areas with poor drainage capacity. Instruct people to protect aquaculture ponds.
To proactively respond to the storm, the provincial People's Committee requested to ban all vehicles from going out to sea, prohibit recreational activities at sea, and swimming from 6am on September 6; at the same time, count and call on owners of vehicles operating at sea, owners of aquaculture facilities; people in estuaries, coastal areas, and watchtowers to take shelter in safe places before 11am today.
