A1 National Martyrs Cemetery is a sacred historical site built in 1958, located a few hundred meters south of the historical site of A1 hill, on Vo Nguyen Giap street, in Muong Thanh ward, Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province.
The main gate of the A1 national martyrs cemetery - on both sides are ancient citadel-style walls; The cemetery's ceremonial platform and bell tower have the architecture of the Khue Van Cac building.
A1 Martyrs' Cemetery Memorial House is built in an A-shaped structure with 644 petals symbolizing 644 martyrs.
The golden plaques on both sides of the main gate leading to the cemetery, where the names of martyrs who died in the Dien Bien Phu campaign are recorded, are listed by province and city across the country.
At the memorial stele, Thanh Hoa province has over 800 heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.
Most of the martyrs' graves have not been identified.
At cemetery A1, there are 4 large graves engraved with the names of 4 Heroes of the People's Armed Forces: Phan Dinh Giot, To Vinh Dien, Be Van Dan and Tran Can - names that have gone down in national history.
The cemetery is always looked after, cared for, protected, and burned with incense all year round.
To make the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu, thousands of the nation's elite children did not spare their blood and youth, fighting for national independence and freedom for the Fatherland, and will forever remain on this land.
