On the morning of March 6 (Vietnam time), US President Joe Biden won the Democratic Party caucus held in Iowa state by postal ballot on January 15.
The Guardian reported that Mr. Biden also won the Democratic primaries in Virginia, Vermont, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Massachusetts and North Carolina. Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump won the Republican primaries in Virginia and North Carolina, Maine, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
With 99% of the votes counted in Iowa, Mr. Biden received 11,083 votes (90.9%); Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips received 362 votes (3%); writer Marianne Williamson (who withdrew from the race) received 268 votes (2.2%). Notably, 480 people voted blank (3.9%). With this result, Mr. Biden won all 40 delegates in Iowa, bringing the total number of delegates he holds to 246, moving towards an important milestone in his goal of reaching 1,968 delegates to win the Democratic Party's nomination for president in November.
This victory is good news for President Biden opening the "Super Tuesday" election day (March 5, US time), when millions of American voters go to the polls in the form of primaries in the form of secret ballots and party meetings in 15 states and one territory with the Republican Party and 16 states with the Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump's opening victories on "Super Tuesday" are bringing much hope to voters who support him on his path to becoming the Republican Party's presidential candidate.
