On the afternoon of December 1, Minh Duc commune, Tu Ky district (Hai Duong) organized the 2024 military-civilian cultural festival. This is the locality chosen by the inter-sectoral agencies of the province and Tu Ky district as a provincial-level point for this activity.
Speaking at the festival, Comrade Nguyen Quang Phuc, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, affirmed that the military-civilian cultural festival aims to review the heroic traditions of the nation, including the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army. The festival aims to widely propagate to all cadres, party members and people about the glorious historical journey through 80 years of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam People's Army, the armed forces of Military Region 3, the army and people of Minh Duc commune, heroic Tu Ky district.
The activity fosters the “fish-water” relationship between the army and the people, contributing to creating an endogenous strength to firmly protect the Vietnamese Fatherland in the new situation. This is also one of a series of practical activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, an opportunity to show gratitude to war invalids, sick soldiers, families of policy beneficiaries, and heroic Vietnamese mothers in the area.
Comrade Nguyen Quang Phuc, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, suggested that in the coming time, communes, wards and towns in the province organize a thoughtful and close military-civilian cultural festival, creating solidarity and close military-civilian affection.
In the warm atmosphere of the festival, delegates and local people together reviewed the history and glorious traditions of the army and people of Minh Duc commune in the resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism and in defending the Fatherland as well as in the cause of national renovation and construction; evaluated the results of local defense and military work in conjunction with socio-economic development of the commune.
Minh Duc commune currently has 7 villages with 4,090 households. Through two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism and in the construction and protection of the Fatherland, the commune has 317 martyrs, 116 wounded soldiers, 63 sick soldiers, 42 people infected with toxic chemicals, and 49 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. In 2002, Minh Duc commune was honored to be awarded the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State.
After nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, Minh Duc commune has achieved great achievements, developing comprehensively in all fields of economy - society, security and national defense. In 2018, Minh Duc commune achieved new rural standards. Currently, cadres, party members and people in the commune are focusing all resources to strive for the commune to achieve advanced new rural standards by 2024. The commune focuses on consolidating, perfecting and improving the capacity of leadership and direction to build a national defense associated with an increasingly solid people's security posture.
At the festival, Minh Duc Commune People's Committee awarded 2 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in performing local defense and military work.
The Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Youth Union, the District Party Committee, the People's Committee of Tu Ky district and other departments of the district presented 40 gifts to 40 families of policy beneficiaries and outstanding meritorious people in the commune, each gift worth 300,000 VND. The Fatherland Front Committee of Tu Ky district used the "For the Poor" Fund to present 10 gifts to 10 poor households in the commune, each gift worth 500,000 VND.
At the festival, there were also many activities such as clay cannon competition; volleyball competition; visiting the exhibition of paintings by students of Minh Duc Primary School with the theme "Uncle Ho's soldiers and the homeland's sea and islands".
This is also the first year Hai Duong has organized this activity. According to the plan, from December 2-22, the remaining communes, wards and towns of Hai Duong will organize a military-civilian cultural festival.
After the festival, the Provincial Military Command organized an evaluation and drew experience from organizing the festival with the Military Commands of districts, towns and cities.
