Prevent deforestation, illegal logging and forest fire prevention and fighting

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has just sent a document to the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities and a number of related units, requesting to strengthen measures to prevent deforestation, illegal exploitation of forest products and forest fire prevention and control (PCCCR) in the managed forest areas.

Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in recent times, the management, protection and development of forests in the province have achieved many important results. Forests are protected and developed stably. However, through monitoring and information gathering, in some places, the situation of clandestine deforestation, theft of forest products, and illegal encroachment on forestry land still occurs. The hottest areas are in the border areas of Bac Binh district with districts of Lam Dong province, the border areas between Ham Thuan Bac and Tanh Linh districts; the border areas of Bac Binh district and Tuy Phong district. Some areas still have a high risk of forest fires.

Therefore, in order to proactively and effectively implement forest protection measures, prevent deforestation, forest fires and illegal logging in the prolonged hot weather, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the heads of the management boards of protective and special-use forests, and the Forestry One Member Co., Ltd.: Binh Thuan, Song Dinh to direct the consolidation of the forest protection and PCCCR forces of the units to effectively patrol and inspect forests; take measures to prevent illegal logging from continuing in the assigned forest areas; inspect forests, sweep, and expel illegal loggers from the assigned forest areas; strengthen forest protection at the base. At the same time, regularly grasp information and developments in the forest areas to take measures to prevent violations. The head of any forest owner unit who allows violations of forestry laws or encroachment on forest land in the assigned forest areas without taking measures to prevent them must be held responsible before the law.

For the border areas of Bac Binh district with districts of Lam Dong province, the border areas between Ham Thuan Bac and Tanh Linh districts; the border areas between Bac Binh district and Tuy Phong district, the Head of the Forest Protection Department urgently directed the Mobile Forest Protection and Forest Fire Prevention Team of Binh Thuan to promptly support the forces of forest owners to ensure a strong force capable of responding to and handling situations; regularly and proactively grasp information to organize patrols and ambushes (especially in the border areas of La Da commune, Da Mi commune - Ham Thuan Bac district with Tanh Linh district; the border areas of Phan Lam commune, Phan Son commune - Bac Binh district with districts of Lam Dong province) to promptly and strictly handle acts of illegal exploitation of forest products and deforestation to stabilize the situation and prevent the formation of "hot spots" of illegal exploitation of forest products in the above areas...

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct the authorities of communes in the area to strictly implement the responsibility of state management of forests and forestry land according to regulations...
