The Russian Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of attempting to attack a gas supply station for the TurkStream pipeline while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was visiting the United States.
The Ukrainian Air Force accused Russia of launching 154 attack and decoy drones into Ukraine on the night of February 28 and early morning of March 1. Of these, 103 UAVs were shot down, while 51 were lost without causing damage, according to The Kyiv Independent, citing a statement from the Ukrainian Air Force.

In addition, officials in several Ukrainian provinces accused Russian attacks of killing at least five civilians and wounding at least 25 others in 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian forces had taken control of the two villages of Sudne and Burlatske in the southern part of the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine. These villages are located near the town of Velyka Novossilka, which has been controlled by Russian troops since late January.

The Russian Defense Ministry also announced that in 24 hours in Russia's Kursk province, the Ukrainian army lost more than 220 soldiers, 1 infantry fighting vehicle, 1 armored personnel carrier, 11 armored fighting vehicles, 12 motor vehicles and 7 artillery pieces, according to TASS.

Russia suffers most intense attack on Ukrainian UAVs since the beginning of the year
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian air defense forces shot down all three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at a safe distance from the compressor station. "Currently, the compressor station is supplying gas to the TurkStream pipeline normally," the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed.
As of the evening of March 1, there was no information about Ukraine's response to the above accusation.

Russia sets goals in Ukraine
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on March 1 that Russia's goals in Ukraine remain unchanged after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Washington DC, according to AFP.
"Russia's unchanging goal remains the demilitarization and defascization of Ukraine, as well as the recognition of the current reality on the ground," Zakharova stressed, adding that Zelensky was "obsessed with continuing" the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Ms. Zakharova also said that Mr. Zelensky's visit to the US on February 28 was a complete political and diplomatic "failure", after US President Donald Trump criticized the Ukrainian leader in a verbal battle.

Despite the heated debate at the White House on February 28, President Zelensky wrote on social media on March 1 that Ukraine still needs President Trump's support. "It is important for us to have President Trump's support. He wants to end the war, but no one wants peace more than us," Mr. Zelensky wrote.
President Zelensky also wrote that he was still “ready” to sign a mineral agreement with the US. “We are ready to sign a mineral agreement and this will be the first step towards ensuring security,” Zelensky wrote on X.
