Improve the quality of life of Farmers' Association branches and groups in the area

DTO - In order to concretize the Resolution of the Provincial Farmers' Association Congress for the 2023 - 2028 term, including the key task of "Building a strong Dong Thap Farmers' Association", in 2024, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Association issued Plan No. 48 on improving the quality of activities and operations of the Branches and Groups of the Dong Thap Provincial Farmers' Association (abbreviated as Plan No. 48). At the same time, the Standing Committee and the Provincial Farmers' Association are assigned to be in charge of emulation clusters; cadres and civil servants of the Provincial Farmers' Association attend branch and group meetings at least twice a year and after attending the meetings, report the results and propose solutions for the Provincial Farmers' Association to grasp and direct implementation.

Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province are interested in providing specific guidance on implementing Plan No. 48 through the tasks of the Association's work and the farmers' movement in line with the actual conditions of the unit and locality. Since then, the management of members has become increasingly strict, the quality of members has been improved, and the activities of branches and groups have become better and better. Specifically: through promoting new models, good and creative practices associated with the Farmers' Association's movement, in 2024, grassroots Associations at all levels will develop an additional 13,351 members, bringing the total number to 164,989 existing members (accounting for 65.2%).

The branches and groups of the Association develop schedules and meeting times, report to the Provincial Farmers' Association Executive Committee for monitoring and assigning staff to attend meetings; develop specific meeting agendas, assign chairpersons and secretaries to take minutes, and fully record discussion opinions at meetings, and at the end of the meeting, the meeting chairperson has a conclusion. Regarding the content of the short meetings, in addition to members discussing and giving opinions on building resolutions of the branches and groups, the Association also informs and propagates the policies of the Central and local governments, and the results of socio-economic development of the province.

At the same time, share experiences on seasonal production techniques, business, association, cooperation in production and consumption of products, good models, new ways, to increase income, improve the material and spiritual life of members and farmers. The Branch maintains regular Executive Committee meetings and the Association Group maintains regular activities, as a result, 477/703 Branch Executive Committees maintain meetings 12/12 times/year (reaching 67.85%); 2,468/5,703 Association Groups maintain meetings 12/12 times/year (reaching 43.27%), the rate of farmer members attending activities is over 65%.

Comrade Ho Van Dat - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, said: "Regarding the activities and operations of the branches and groups, the whole province has 98 bases holding Executive Committee meetings in rotation at the branches; 950 Executive Committees of the branches holding meetings in rotation at the groups; 3,971 groups holding activities in rotation at the homes of farmer members. Assigning officials and civil servants of the Provincial Farmers' Association to attend branch and group meetings to grasp the activities of the branches and groups, promptly orienting the content, guiding the program of meetings, removing difficulties and obstacles in the area, contributing to improving the quality of activities and operations of branches and groups in the area".

After 1 year of implementing Plan No. 48, the quality of activities and operations of the branches and groups has been significantly improved, the content of activities is concise with rich and diverse content, suitable for each locality, attracting members to participate in regular activities. The results of the 2024 classification assessment show that the whole province has 685 branches that have completed their tasks well or better.

In the coming time, the Provincial Farmers' Association will continue to assign Association officials from the provincial to commune levels to participate periodically, and at the same time pay attention to guiding and orienting the programs and contents of branch and group activities; organizing the activities of the Executive Committee of the Farmers' Association of communes, wards and towns in rotation at the branches and meetings of the Executive Committee of the branches in rotation according to the groups. The contents of branch and group activities will be linked to economic, social and occupational models (craft village models) and cooperative groups to meet the right needs and practical benefits to attract members and farmers to join the Association.

In addition, regularly pay attention to building dedicated, enthusiastic and responsible branch and association cadres; promptly encourage and motivate the spirit and increase training, guidance on professional skills to improve the knowledge and operational capacity of the branch and association cadres. In addition, mobilize and call on donors to invest and support the association cadres to apply information technology and digital transformation in the association's activities, ensuring synchronous connection from the grassroots to the province to share information and data on farmers and farmer members with relevant agencies and units.
