Project "Semi-automatic prosthetic finger" Nguyen Trong Tinh (Ca Mau) is a final year student majoring in Business Administration at Can Tho University. Tinh is one of 200 students receiving the Sharing the dream 2023 scholarship. "This is the second year I have received the scholarship. I feel proud of my efforts. I see that the scholarship not only provides financial support but also helps people in the same situation as me mentally, which brings greater value than financial support," Tinh shared. During the scholarship award ceremony, Tinh was proud to introduce the "Semi-automatic prosthetic finger" project to everyone. Tinh said that the male student and the project members spent a year researching and perfecting the product. "Our group found that the products supporting people with disabilities on the market were too expensive, so we joined hands with our friends to find ideas. At first, we failed many times when thinking about far-fetched things. However, we still did not give up," Tinh said. Tinh said that while everyone was out of ideas, the group discovered that the grandfather of a member of the group had a finger disability. That greatly affected his physical and mental health. Therefore, the group decided to carry out a prosthetic finger project with a low-cost product to help more people with disabilities have access. Trong Tinh was proud when the project "Semi-automatic prosthetic finger" was presented at the reception of the delegation at Can Tho University. In addition, the male student also won the first prize in the potential startup project competition among students of Can Tho University in 2023, the third prize in the Ca Mau Startup Competition and the encouragement prize in the CiC 2023 competition. In addition, Tinh also participated in a number of volunteer activities, programs aimed at community benefits and became an ambassador in the one-year journey with the scholarship. Working to help his family since the age of 11, Trong Tinh was born in a coastal area. At the age of 11, the male student started fishing with his father to help his family. "My family used to be very peaceful, the economy was stable, my younger brother and I did not have to worry about food and clothing. However, more than a year ago, a family incident happened, my father got sick, I had to both study and work to earn money to make ends meet. Currently, I am the main breadwinner of the family. My mother's health is not very stable and cannot do heavy labor. I have done many part-time jobs such as serving, running parties, recording for recording studios, advertising staff", Tinh shared. Trong Tinh said that on average, he works part-time for about 6-8 hours a day to support himself and his family. The rest of the time, Tinh spends on studying and volunteering. To date, Trong Tinh has helped more than 100 unfortunate people. "I started volunteering at the end of my first year. When I first entered university, I only focused on working part-time and did not do much. However, when I realized that I was "inert", I started looking for organizations, associations, and volunteer programs to participate in. At first, I approached volunteer and charity programs with the mindset of participating just for the sake of it, not knowing the purpose of what I was doing. Later, I realized the deeper meaning of giving away beautiful values", Tinh said.

Trong Tinh confided: "Although the gifts given are just school supplies or items of little value, looking at the bright, happy faces of the recipients, I feel very happy. What I receive in my volunteer journey are stories and situations from everyone. The sharing sessions help me have the motivation to strive because I am also in a difficult situation. Through that, I see that there are many other lives that are more unfortunate and miserable than mine." There were times when Tinh wanted to give up everything because of pressure and fatigue. At that time, the male student often gave himself a moment to rest, encourage himself, get up and go further. Tinh's father shared: "Since childhood, the family did not teach Tinh about knowledge but let him study by himself. What I can teach my son is life experience and how to be a good person. Be poor but clean, be torn but fragrant, even though you have difficulties, you must work honestly. Moreover, you must help people around you and those who are more difficult than you because "looking up, you are not equal to anyone, but looking down, no one is equal to you". Besides, the family also taught Tinh to be independent from a young age and proactive in everything". As a young person enthusiastic about volunteer work, Tinh believes: "When young, if you have a desire, you dare to do it and accept the trade-offs. There is nothing you can achieve without trade-offs. If you want to create value for everyone, we will have to spend time, effort, sometimes money, but we will receive other great values in return".
