On the morning of August 28, Bac Me District General Hospital shared a photo of a male nurse holding a newborn baby on the side of the road. Many people congratulated the family and thanked the male nurse for appearing at the right time to help the mother give birth successfully.
According to Ms. VTG (20 years old, residing in Thuong Tan commune, Bac Me district, Ha Giang province), this is her second pregnancy.
From 2am on August 28, she started having stomachaches and had labor. Her husband took her to give birth by motorbike. The distance from her house to Bac Me District General Hospital is about 30km.
However, when she reached Highway 34, about 8km from the hospital, Ms. G. had severe abdominal pain, her water broke and she felt like giving birth. At this time, the husband carried his wife down and sat on the ground, hugging her tightly, continuously asking passersby for help.
At that moment, around 7am the same day, nurse Tran Van Chuong (37 years old) working at Bac Me District General Hospital passed by.
Seeing the husband lying down and hugging his wife asking for help, Mr. Chuong quickly stopped the car to check the situation. He determined that the pregnant woman was in labor and was about to give birth.
Without thinking much, Mr. Chuong introduced himself as a nurse working at the hospital and asked for permission to assist the pregnant woman.
After about 2-3 minutes, Ms. G. gave birth to a baby girl weighing about 3kg. The baby cried well and was rosy.
Mr. Chuong did a preliminary navel and delivered the placenta for the mother safely. He then advised and took the mother to the hospital for postnatal care.
Currently, Ms. G. and the baby are both stable, the baby girl is being cared for at the hospital.
Not long ago, a pregnant woman in Nam Khat commune (Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province) was also lucky to meet a doctor who passed by while she was in labor on the side of the road and successfully delivered her baby. These are lucky stories of "meeting the right person at the right time".
However, doctors recommend that in cases where pregnant women live in remote areas, where roads are difficult to travel, and are far from medical facilities, when the due date arrives, they should go to a medical facility to wait for delivery to be examined, diagnosed, and treated appropriately by a doctor, to avoid going into labor but not being able to get to a medical facility in time.
