On the afternoon of December 30, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development chaired a conference to summarize the implementation of the Action Plan to ensure quality, food safety, increase processing and develop the market for agricultural, forestry and agricultural products in Quang Ninh province in 2024.
Quang Ninh province has 27,999 establishments producing, processing and trading agricultural products, of which 598 are enterprise-scale establishments and 27,401 are household-scale establishments. In 2024, specialized sectors, with the core being the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with localities, will issue 200 documents and implementation plans on quality management and food safety of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; organize 185 training courses on food safety with over 10,000 participants; print and distribute over 57,000 leaflets and handbooks and communicate 280 press works on food safety to the people.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development periodically classified 206 establishments that meet food safety conditions and assessed and granted certificates of food safety conditions to 576 establishments. For household-scale establishments, since the beginning of the year, 26,566 establishments have signed food safety commitments, of which 16,397 establishments have been inspected after signing the commitment.
The province has 322 hectares of cultivated land, 329 hectares of forest, 1 aquaculture facility and 41 livestock facilities certified by VietGAP; 62 growing areas and 9 packaging facilities are granted codes; 14 agricultural supply chains are certified as safe agricultural chains and 54 types of products are certified as safe products. Quang Ninh agricultural production is meeting the safety criteria according to general regulations. Quang Ninh province has not had any major food poisoning incidents originating from agricultural products.
In 2024, basically all agricultural products of Quang Ninh will be consumed stably, without the phenomenon of large local surplus products according to the season. During the year, more than 212,000 tons of grain crops were consumed; nearly 103,000 tons of fresh meat of all kinds; 168,850 tons of farmed and exploited aquatic products. The export value of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products of Quang Ninh through the border gates in the area reached over 2.4 million tons, worth about 345 million USD.
To achieve this result, in 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and related units have increased activities to collect data on market fluctuations as well as survey and search for markets to help businesses consume agricultural products; provide a list of establishments in need of providing safe agricultural products to consumers in and outside the province; post agricultural market news on the provincial electronic information portal; support farmers, cooperatives, and agricultural enterprises in applying and managing e-commerce business.
During the year, Quang Ninh sent 7 agricultural production and processing establishments with over 40 products to participate in 12 fairs, conferences, and forums on trade promotion and market development; brought 6 establishments with 22 products to introduce and connect to major distribution systems in Hanoi city; maintained over 40 distribution establishments at over 100 points of sale nationwide; formed 7 commercial centers and 23 stores, points of introduction and sale of OCOP products in and outside the province. Currently, the Safe Agricultural, Forestry and Aquatic Food Traceability Database System managed by Quang Ninh has nearly 1,400 operating accounts, 2,489 product QR-codes, of which 1,280 are QR-codes of processed and packaged agricultural products.
Speaking at the conference, delegates delved into reporting and analyzing how to implement food safety tasks according to assigned functions and tasks; discussed propaganda and mobilization work to ensure food safety in agriculture, forestry and fishery, for public health, and the plan to ensure quality and food safety in 2025 of the facility.
At the conference, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development announced the results of the Appraisal Council for the results of self-assessment, scoring, and ranking of agricultural, forestry, and fishery food safety management of districts, towns, and cities in Quang Ninh province in 2024. Accordingly, the localities of Cam Pha, Uong Bi, Ha Long, Dong Trieu, Tien Yen, and Hai Ha are in the good implementation group; the localities of Mong Cai, Quang Yen, Van Don, Binh Lieu, Ba Che, Dam Ha, and Co To are in the satisfactory implementation group. Based on these results, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will propose the Provincial People's Committee to consider and issue a notice of the ranking results of districts, towns, and cities on agricultural, forestry, and fishery food safety management in 2024 in the province.
