(QNO) - In 2023, many dynamic traffic projects and works will begin construction in Quang Nam to continue implementing the breakthrough task of synchronous and modern traffic infrastructure.

Upgrading and renovating National Highway 14E

On March 7, 2023, in Tan Binh town (Hiep Duc), the Ministry of Transport coordinated with the People's Committee of Quang Nam province to organize the construction ceremony of the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway (QL) 14E, section km15+270 - km89+700. QL14E is one of the important East-West connecting axes serving the transportation of passengers, goods, agricultural and forestry products from the Central Highlands provinces, Southern Laos, Northeastern Cambodia and Thailand to the provinces in the South Central Coast and the North.

The investment in the construction of the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 14E, section km15+270 - km89+700, will contribute to shortening travel time; promoting economic development in the region in particular and the country in general; gradually contributing to the completion of National Highway 14E according to the planning for transport development in the key economic region of the Central region until 2020, with a vision to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister.

The project passes through Thang Binh, Hiep Duc and Phuoc Son districts with a roadbed width of 9m (7m wide road surface; 0.5m wide reinforced shoulder on each side; 0.5m wide dirt shoulder on each side). The section passing through the North-South railway intersection at km15+270 - km16+054 (Binh Quy commune, Thang Binh) has a roadbed width of 12m. The project is invested with state budget capital with a total amount of more than 1,848 billion VND; implementation progress is in the period of 2021 - 2025.

Vo Chi Cong Street to Dong Que Son Industrial Park connects with National Highway 14H and National Highway 1

On the afternoon of May 26, 2023, the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board held a groundbreaking ceremony for the road connecting Vo Chi Cong Street to Dong Que Son Industrial Park connecting with National Highway 14H and National Highway 1 (part of the Vo Chi Cong Road completion project). The project is divided into 2 phases; in which phase 1 has the starting point at km27+400 of Vo Chi Cong Street (in Binh Sa commune, Thang Binh), the end point connects to the intersection with the National Highway 1 connecting road project to the eastern region of Duy Xuyen (through Binh Sa, Binh Trieu, Binh Phuc, Binh Giang communes of Thang Binh and Duy Thanh commune of Duy Xuyen) with a length of nearly 19.4km.

Phase 2 of the project starts at km27+400 Vo Chi Cong Street, the end point connects to km979+310 National Highway 1 (passing through Binh Sa, Binh Tu, Binh Trung communes of Thang Binh) with a length of more than 3.7km.

The scale of the level III plain road is about 12.7m wide, with an asphalt concrete surface. 3 bridges will be built along the route... The total investment of the project is 956 billion VND (land clearance accounts for 159 billion VND). The project is expected to be completed in April 2025.

Realizing the Central Region Linkage Project of Quang Nam Province

On the morning of July 19, 2023, in Tien Phong commune (Tien Phuoc), the Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Central Region Connection Project of Quang Nam province. The groundbreaking ceremony of the project aims to invest in a road system connecting the eastern dynamic region and Chu Lai Open Economic Zone to the southwestern districts of the province. Thereby, exploiting and strongly developing agricultural, forestry and medicinal products to serve as raw materials for factories in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.

The project has a total investment of 768 billion VND, passing through 5 localities including Thang Binh, Tam Ky, Phu Ninh, Tien Phuoc and Bac Tra My. The total length of the entire route is over 31.8km, starting at the intersection with Thanh Nien coastal road (DT613B) in Binh Nam commune (Thang Binh) and ending at Tra My town (Bac Tra My). The project uses ODA loans from the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

Van Ly Bridge and access roads

On the morning of September 16, 2023, in Dien Quang commune (Dien Ban), the Provincial People's Committee officially started the Van Ly bridge and approach road project. The Van Ly bridge and approach road project has a total length of 7.78km, including 2 branches. Branch 1 starts at Dien Quang commune, Dien Ban, crosses Van Ly bridge, turns left to the west to the intersection between DT609B and DT609C in Dai Hoa commune (Dai Loc) with a length of 3.65km.

Branch 2, from the intersection with km1+040 of branch 1 to the intersection between DT609 and DT605 in Dien Hong commune (Dien Ban) is 4.13km long. The roadbed is 9m wide, the asphalt concrete surface is 8m wide. Van Ly bridge over Thu Bon river is 460m long and has a lighting system for the entire route.

The total investment of the project is 575 billion VND (420 billion VND from the central budget and 155 billion VND from the provincial budget). The project will be constructed within 900 days by the construction contractor Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company and the supervision consultant is the RTC3 - CTES Joint Venture. It is expected to be completed in March 2026.

Van Ly Bridge and the approach road will contribute to completing the transport infrastructure system according to the planning of Quang Nam, connecting the two banks of Thu Bon River. This route, together with the route connecting from National Highway 14H to National Highway 14B, including Song Thu Bridge over Thu Bon River and An Binh Bridge over Vu Gia River under construction, DT609B over Giao Thuy Bridge and the national highways and provincial roads in the region that have been fully invested, will contribute to forming strategic North-South, East-West routes, expanding the space for industrial, urban and service development...
