Expanding development space
To celebrate the 76th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2021), on the morning of September 2, 2021, the new Nong Son Bridge was officially put into use.
Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) - Mr. Tran Canh Ha said that this is a very important project located on National Highway (QL) 14H, crossing the Thu Bon River to meet the goal of connecting smoothly with Truong Son Dong Road, serving transportation needs, creating conditions to promote local socio-economic development.
On March 24, 2017, witnessed by thousands of people from Duy Xuyen, Dai Loc, Dien Ban districts and neighboring areas, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held the inauguration ceremony of Giao Thuy bridge on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Quang Nam Liberation and 20th anniversary of the province's re-establishment.
Giao Thuy Bridge connects the two banks of Thu Bon, creating a new North-South horizontal axis including QL14H - DT609B - QL14B (Nong Son - Duy Xuyen - Dai Loc to Da Nang); shortening travel time, creating conditions to exploit potentials and advantages to develop industry, services and tourism.
In the 2020-2025 term, many road and bridge projects have received attention from the Central Government and the province in allocating investment resources. Typically, in 2021, the Cam Kim bridge project and the approach road located on National Highway 14H, implemented with capital from the transport sector credit project to renovate the national road network for the second time, was put into operation, connecting Hoi An with Triem Tay (Dien Phuong ward, Dien Ban).
In addition to the Cua Dai, Cam Kim, Giao Thuy and Nong Son bridges, the Thu River is currently under construction to build the Song Thu Bridge (part of the project connecting Highway 14H to Highway 609C) and the Van Ly Bridge. Crossing the Vu Gia River, another project that is preparing for technical traffic is the An Binh Bridge (part of the project connecting Highway 609C to Highway 14B) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Nam Province.
Safety first
The construction of the road bridge will open up new development space, creating favorable conditions to exploit the maximum potential of the land through which the project passes.
As in the Eastern region, Cua Dai Bridge was inaugurated on March 27, 2016, carrying out the mission of connecting the coastal road of Vietnam, the section passing through Quang Nam. This is the basis for the province to continue implementing the component projects of Highway 129 (Vo Chi Cong Road), extending from Hoi An to the entrance to Chu Lai Airport, promoting the development of industry, urban areas, tourism and services.
Van Ly bridge project and access road are under construction, Dien Ban town is calling for promotion of "Investment and business project of Van Ly industrial cluster technical infrastructure".
Because Van Ly bridge will connect seamlessly with the vertical axes of National Highway 1 - DT610B - DT609C, the horizontal axes of National Highway 14H - Giao Thuy bridge - DT609B - DT609 - DT605 and go straight to Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, then trade will be convenient and safe.
Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Dai Loc district - Mr. Nguyen Hao shared that there are two large rivers flowing through the area, Vu Gia and Thu Bon. Dai Loc is a low-lying area, the amount of water from upstream is concentrated in large quantities, with high intensity, but the slow flood discharge speed causes flooding.
Along the Vu Gia River, many families make a living from farming, with fields on the other side of the alluvial plain, so they have to use their own boats to transport agricultural products and materials for production. Crossing this river, especially during the rainy season, is unsafe.
“The central government and the province should pay attention to allocating funding to invest in the road project connecting DT609C to QL14B, with An Binh bridge across Vu Gia river so that people will no longer feel insecure during the rainy season; shorten the travel distance between regions B and C, and eliminate ferry piers and private boats,” said Mr. Nguyen Hao.
In Nong Son, the old Nong Son bridge was put into use on April 29, 2005, solving many problems, especially traffic safety. However, with the increasing speed of vehicles, especially heavy trucks, the old bridge could not meet the demand due to the limited load of 8 tons, the bridge width was only 6.5m and was deteriorating. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee decided to build a new bridge, parallel to the old bridge as mentioned above.
It can be seen that most of the bridges built have eliminated the traffic congestion by ferry, especially during the rainy season. Therefore, the bridge project not only opens up the "blood vessels" of the economy but also solves the traffic safety problem with the motto "human life is above all".
