Mytel has provided emergency support to about 4 million customers in 98 districts (townships) across Myanmar.
Just hours after the earthquake, Mytel launched an emergency support campaign for about 4 million customers in 98 districts (townships) across Myanmar. Each customer in the affected area was promptly supported with 1GB of data, 300 minutes of calls and 300 SMS messages to help people contact their relatives and update information from the government and rescue agencies.
Mobile charging points were also organized by Mytel in many heavily affected areas, helping people stay connected during widespread power outages.
In particular, Mytel engineers, technicians and staff worked through the night to ensure that the telecommunications network was not interrupted. Dozens of mobile broadcasting stations were deployed, and backup equipment was activated to maintain the communications infrastructure, serve rescue work and support the community.
In addition, Mytel also organized 45 points to support essential items including 10,000 meals for people and will continue to expand in the coming time.
The earthquake forced the Myanmar government to issue an urgent appeal for international aid. In such circumstances, Mytel’s quick and practical actions not only helped to alleviate some of the concerns of the Myanmar people, but also demonstrated the spirit of the Vietnamese people for the international community.
