Previously, the US Ambassador to Vietnam affirmed that the US side will closely coordinate in the investigation of the case, because the case is related to an organization based in the US. Therefore, the press requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to inform about the coordination between the US and Vietnam in the investigation and trial of this case.
Responding to the above question, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed that the investigation into the case that occurred in Dak Lak on June 11, 2023 was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law.
During the investigation, Vietnamese and US authorities have been regularly exchanging information about relevant organizations and individuals in accordance with the laws of the two countries as well as international law.
In an exchange with the Ministry of Public Security, the US side affirmed that it would not tolerate any organization or individual related to the incident and pledged to support Vietnamese law enforcement forces in the investigation process to clarify the incident in order to prevent similar incidents from happening, affecting the relationship between the two countries.
“We always believe that all countries, including Vietnam, as well as peace-loving people around the world, resolutely oppose terrorist acts in all forms; coordinate to investigate and strictly handle terrorist acts in accordance with international law,” Ms. Hang emphasized.
Also at the press conference, answering the question about Vietnam's viewpoint on the fact that after the court issued the first-instance verdict on the terrorist case in Dak Lak, there were many articles on social networking sites criticizing the issue of ethnic discrimination and ethnic minority discrimination, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: "We completely reject the claim that there is ethnic discrimination. All ethnic groups living in Vietnam are equal. The Vietnamese Government always gives priority to ethnic minority areas, especially in socio-economic development and improving people's lives."
