Taking advantage of its synchronous infrastructure and specialized cruise ship port, Quang Ninh has been and is a destination for international tourists. The super yachts carrying thousands of international tourists docking at Ha Long recently signal a favorable and successful cruise tourism season.
Recently, Ha Long International Passenger Port welcomed two international super ships carrying more than 4,700 tourists to Ha Long City. They were the Noordam ship (Dutch nationality) traveling from Hong Kong (China) to Singapore, bringing nearly 1,900 tourists to Ha Long, and the Celebrity Solstice ship (Maltese nationality) docked with 2,806 tourists; most of them came from Europe and America. Immediately after these ships docked, tourists were able to visit and explore the beauty of Ha Long Bay, other famous scenic spots such as Long Tien Pagoda, Quang Ninh Museum, Yen Tu National Special Relic Site (Uong Bi City), and Yen Duc village (Dong Trieu City).
Previously, the 5-star cruise ship Costa Serena also docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port, bringing nearly 2,500 tourists from China to Quang Ninh to visit and experience the heritage wonder of Ha Long Bay, explore the tour around the city, and learn about local culture. Costa Serena is one of the largest cruise ships of Costa Cruises (Italy), famous for its journeys in the Asian region. Since September, this 5-star cruise ship has docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port many times.
Continuing to effectively exploit the Chinese tourist market, after many efforts to connect and promote between Quang Ninh (Vietnam) - Guangxi (China), the cruise route Ha Long (Vietnam) - Beihai (China) has been reopened. The luxury cruise ship Blue Dream Melody has visited Ha Long twice, bringing 1,500 Chinese tourists to Quang Ninh.
Last October, Ha Long - Quang Ninh also marked an important milestone when it welcomed the 3 millionth international visitor in 2024, also arriving by ship. That was Ms. Tina Bogle, an American citizen, on the Viking Orion ship on a journey across Asia. Along with the 3 millionth international visitor, on the Viking Orion ship's journey there were nearly 900 tourists, mostly from the US. The group of tourists visited Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Museum and a number of tourist attractions in Quang Ninh province.
Welcoming 3 million international tourists in 10 months of 2024 is a record for Quang Ninh tourism. This is an important milestone for Quang Ninh tourism's efforts to overcome difficulties and quickly recover after the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the recent storm No. 3.
In order to strongly attract tourists to destinations in the province, especially cruise tourists, Quang Ninh has synchronously and drastically implemented solutions to promote tourism and services; deployed and put into operation 67 new tourism products, focusing on developing tourism products associated with the distinct values of Quang Ninh tourism such as Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, Yen Tu National Special Relic Site; developed and connected cruise tourism companies to Ha Long. Up to now, 38/67 new tourism products have been put into operation, 29 products are being completed and will be put into operation in the near future.
With the proactive implementation of solutions to attract tourists by the Quang Ninh Tourism industry, the number of tourists visiting the province in general and cruise tourism activities to Ha Long in particular continues to have many improvements. According to the plan, in the 2024-2025 cruise season, there will be more than 60 cruise ships coming to Ha Long with more than 100,000 passengers, including many high-class cruise ships with large numbers of passengers such as Costa Serena, Celebrity Solstice, Mein Schiff, Noordam... For example, Celebrity Solstice is planned to return to Ha Long 4 more times in 2024, expected to bring tens of thousands of more tourists to Quang Ninh province.
Quang Ninh aims to welcome 19 million tourists in 2024, including over 3.5 million international visitors. With positive signals from cruise tourism, along with promoting tourism at the end of the year, Quang Ninh will certainly achieve the goals set for the tourism industry.
