On the afternoon of April 2, the Vietnam People's Army rescue force coordinated with rescue teams from Myanmar and Türkiye to successfully rescue Htet Maung Maung (26 years old), a chef who had been trapped for more than 5 days in the Aye Chan Thar Hotel (Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar). Thanks to timely IV fluids from the rescue team, his health condition has gradually stabilized.

After being rescued, Htet Maung Maung was taken to the hospital by ambulance amid cheers from the rescue team and bystanders. Htet Maung Maung’s family shed tears and expressed their gratitude to everyone in the rescue team.
Mr. U Myint Lin, father of victim Htet Maung Maung, said: “On the day of the earthquake, my family was at home, while Htet Maung Maung was working at the hotel. For nearly a week, the family had not received any news about their son, until this morning when they were informed that Htet Maung Maung was still alive.”

Mr. Soe Win, Minister of Security, Mitigation and Resettlement of Myanmar expressed: "Together with the Rescue Team of Vietnam, Myanmar and Turkey, we have rescued two people trapped in Aye Chan Thar Hotel. We are grateful for your great help. I appreciate Vietnam's efforts in rescuing the two victims and am impressed with your capabilities. We would like to express our sincere and deepest gratitude to the people, leaders and rescue association of Vietnam, who did not hesitate to sacrifice hardships to support us in this difficult time".
Coordinating with Vietnamese rescue forces in the search for victims at another rescue site - Ottara Thiri private hospital in Nay Pyi Taw on April 3, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed K.Al Mahri of the Civil Defense Force of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) assessed that the Vietnamese rescue force was "very good, enthusiastic and professional".
Dr. Zar Chi Soe, Oattara Thiri Hospital shared: “The atmosphere at the hospital is very sad. We clearly feel the dedication and professionalism of the Vietnamese rescue team. Thank you.”

Major General Myat Thu, Director of the Fire and Rescue Department (Myanmar Ministry of Home Affairs) highly appreciated the spirit, responsibility and efforts of the Vietnamese delegation when they did not fear danger, working from early morning to late at night in very difficult and complicated locations to help the people of Myanmar.
Major General Myat Thu shared: “I see the spirit of the Vietnamese rescue team is wonderful. You work from early morning to late at night. We want you to rest even just for one day, but you insist that you are here to help us so you continue your work. We highly appreciate your sense of responsibility.”
Starting the search and rescue operation immediately after arriving in the capital Nay Pyi Taw early in the morning of March 31, the Vietnam People's Army delegation of 80 officers, professional soldiers, along with service dogs and modern equipment, quickly approached the scene and actively participated in the search and rescue work. Within 4 days, the team was able to remove 15 bodies from collapsed buildings and hospitals and rescue 1 victim trapped under the rubble. |
